Alrighty so, it looks like we only have a few chapters after this, or just one!
S/n, who aged compared to the last time Y/n saw her, leaned into her older sister's touch, taking off her mask. The two then embraced each other, falling to their knees as Y/n sobbed into her younger sister's neck.
This isn't real Y/n, she's dead.
"I'm right here, Y/n," S/n smiled at her. "We can be together again, everything can be the way it should be."
Stop it you fool, she's dead.
"Y/n, I've missed you so much," S/n laughed.
Y/n looked at her sister's eyes. "I've missed you too."
"Y/n, I don't have much time," S/n turned serious. "There's something you need to do, and then we can have the life you always wanted. I promise we'll be -"
"Y/n!" Another voice called out. Y/n looked up, behind her sister stood Robin, a few yards away from them. "Y/n, get away from her."
"Y/n," S/n drew her attention away from the teen. "Y/n, all you have to do is shoot him, and then end the demon girl." Y/n looked frantically between Damian and S/n with wide eyes. "Then, we can be together and you'll finally have a family," out of who knows where S/n handed Y/n a bow. Y/n recognized it. It was the bow she used to put an arrow through S/n's chest. "Two shots, that's all it will take. Then you'll finally have someone who will love you."
Y/n softly grasped the bow, S/n handed her an arrow. Y/n stood up, she placed the arrow to the side of the bow. She could feel the heavy string and the metal of the arrow through her gloves. Y/n stared at Damian, who was on edge.
Was this how Y/n felt when Grandfather told me to kill her?
Y/n looked down at S/n and remembered her words. Oh how badly she wanted to be reunited with her little sister. It would be a dream come true. But, that is all it would ever be, a dream. Y/n caught Damian's eye and nodded slightly. She knew what she had to do. Y/n took the arrow out of the bow and dropped them to the floor. Once again, she sank to her knees, Y/n wrapped her arms around S/n, keeping her in front of her facing Damian.
"I want you to know that I am happy," Y/n spoke into S/n's neck. "I have a wonderful family and magnificent friends who give me love and support," Y/n sobbed. "I want you to know that I miss you so much, and I know this isn't you, but I'm sorry. I'm sorry for firing that arrow. I - I'm so sorry S/n. You deserved so much more and I'm sorry. Can you forgive me?"
S/n wrapped her arms around Y/n, "Y/n, I could never be mad at you. Just do this for me and we can be together."
Y/n nodded, "Yeah. We'll be together one day," Y/n looked at Damian and fat tears slid down her face. "Just not today." S/n was about to respond when Y/n moved her position, wrapping her arms a certain way around S/n's head. Y/n quickly rotated the smaller girl's head, a snapping sound coming from the bones within her neck. Y/n let out a sob as the girl's body fell limp in her arms. She killed her sister a second time. Once Y/n looked down she sobbed louder as the body morphed into its true form, a red horned demon. The girl yelped as she threw the body away from her.
Damian ran towards her, lifting her up. He raised her chin with his hand and they looked into each other's eyes. Damian's was masked and Y/n's were red. Y/n pressed herself into the crook of Damian's neck, taking in his smell.
"Are you okay, Beloved?"
Y/n moved to look at him once more. "'Beloved'?"
Damian shifted and avoided her eyes. "Isn't that what couples do? Give each other useless pet names? I didn't mean that we are together romantically, we haven't discussed it. Grayson told me I should just ask you and I'm not well informed in this area -"
Y/n cut him off with a kiss. Damian stopped trying to talk and melted into it. Her soft lips moved against his as he grasped her face delicately, she ran her fingers up the nape of his neck and into his raven hair. After all this time, she could admit to herself. It didn't make much sense to her, and at this age, it seemed illogical, but from what she heard that's how it was supposed to be. Messy, annoying, stupid, helpless. But it made sense in a way. Why they always found a way back to each other, how she would risk for him and what she gave up for him. And since it took her years to understand, she wasn't about to let it take years for her to tell Damian. With their occupation, they might not have years. Y/n broke their kiss and rested her forehead against his.
"I love you, Damian," Y/n smiled. Damian almost froze, his mouth slightly open. Those three little words, the phrase he so desperately desired to hear since God knows how long.
He wasn't used to these feelings. They were sloppy and aggravating. They made him feel gross and he didn't like it. And that was just when he thought things were one-sided. So when Y/n said those little words, Damian stopped functioning. He was very thankful for the mask he was wearing, it covered the misty eyes he started to get. He smiled, not a soft one or a hidden one. Damian smiled because he was overjoyed. After all these years, all the time he spent trying to push her away, trying to ignore the flutter in his heart that would happen when her name was mentioned, or the swellness in his chest when she entered a room. The pain his mind went through when they fought or when she cried. He didn't like the journey one bit, it was gross and annoying. But if it meant she would say those little words, Damian would go through it all in a heartbeat. So when she said those words, Damian was so happy to get rid of the weight that had been pushing down on him for years. The weight of not being able to tell her,
"I love you too, Y/n."
