"I'm so ready to go home."

Mason complained as he and Y/N walked down the hall to meet their friends for free time. She laughed at him, and shrugged. "I'd rather be anywhere but home." She sighed.

Welcome to high school. A time to find who you really are and have no freedom because you have so much to stress about. At least that's what some kids thought about it. To Y/N, it was an escape, the only escape besides her friends.

She lived in an abusive home, with only her dad. She absolutely hated him. After her mother left for a better man, he took her. Ever since, her mother has been fighting to get her back. But, they didn't have a court date yet. So she was stuck with him. Sometimes, he would get drunk, and hit her. He would blame everything on her, and she would have to run upstairs and lock herself in her room, screaming as he would bang on the door, and yell at her.

But right now, that didn't matter. She had her friends to keep her mind off it. Mason slung an arm over her shoulder, making her giggle. He grinned and the boys waved them over from their spot in the courtyard.

The boys would do anything to keep Y/N happy, them knowing her home situation. They would often pick her up at four in the morning and take her to one of their houses, so she could get ready in peace, and so she could be at school on time. If they didn't, she would have to hurry and get ready, and book it to the door, sometimes not make it, other times just barely. Then she would have to run to school, or use her skateboard.

"So, we still camping tonight?" Cam asked the others, sitting on the table part of the picnic table. Eric, Matt and Jay joined him, and the others either sat on the bench part or stood. "I can't, got some work to do on a project. But if I get enough done I'll defiantly come." Y/N replied, standing and leaning on Mason. She kinda zoned out after that, staring at someone.

That someone happened to be her crush, the only boy she would ever wanna be with, Jay.

I mean, how could she not like him? He was handsome, sweet, and always made her laugh, even with the dumbest jokes. Not to mention, she was closest to him. He would always get her out of the house when she needed, and he would sit and listen when she vented. She even dreamt about him when she wasn't having nightmares. He was perfect to her, even his st-

Her thoughts were cut off when she noticed everyone looking at her. She looked at them all, her face turning red with embarrassment. "W-What?" She asked, biting her lip. They all laughed softly, which made her smile. "We asked what your last class today was." Jay said, and her heart fluttered. "Same as you all. Gym." She said.

After the bell rang and their free time was up, they all walked down the hall, talking. Her and Cam were speaking, while the others had their small conversations. They spoke about her dad. He had gotten worse in the past week and it had scared her.

"Let's... get off that topic." She said, and he replied with a nod. "How is you and Mason?" She asked, smiling widely and nudging him. His face grew red and he shook his head, a small chuckle finding its way past his lips. "Well... I've made some progress. He doesn't know his secret admirer is me yet." He laughed, smiling. "The cunts oblivious." She giggled with him.

She waved to the others as she headed in the girls locker room. She grabbed her clothes and made sure no one was looking and started to change. But someone always watched her. Bordie and Bee. They would always report the wounds she had to the boys, who would try to get a look into it. Today was bad. Nine new cuts on her leg, multiple bruises on her arms and legs, and just below her collar bone was a bloody bandage.
