Your Pov:
"Finnick!" I scream gagging as the taste of blood fills my mouth, burning my eyes in the process. "Finni-" I gag "Katniss..! Peeta !" I spit out the thick liquid pouring down on us in bucket loads. They begin to open their eyes, panic and shock written all over their features stumbling onto their feet as I call for them. "Get up! Get up! We have to get out of the forest" I pant, struggling to shield myself from the rain. Katniss and Peeta begin to run ahead of me, fiercely making their way through the forest, as I grab Finnick's hand tightly leading him through the unknown path, barely being able to see myself. "(Y/N).." Finnick breaths "leave me behind I can't walk any furth-" he chokes "I'm too tired, I'm just holding you back.." He try's to struggle out of my grasp but I continue to stagger through the jungle holding his hand almost bone crushingly hard. "No Finnick!" l scream through the sound of blood pouring through the trees. "I'm not leaving you behind!" "I love you.." I whisper, almost positive he didn't hear me. Just then, he collapses to the ground, me desperately using my strength to drag him though the trees, finally seeing a clearing, where Katniss and Peeta lay, blood covering them head to toe.
"Katniss! Please help!" I choke out, but they are obviously to dehydrated to come to my aid, as I continue to haul Finnick and I towards the clearing. The walk feels like hours, my limbs so tired, I'm surprised they haven't given out yet. Breathing heavily, my feet finally touch the hot sand of the beach and I know we've made it out, the rain stopping exactly where the tree line ends.
I stagger towards the water still pulling Finnick's weight, falling into the pool with great ease, tiredly cleansing myself briefly before sitting up Finnick and focusing on him. Finnick still in shock, the dehydration making his stability worse. I sigh worried about him, scrubbing his body with the water, getting the hot blood out of his curly hair, as he stares blankly ahead, looking deep in thought. "Finnick it's ok.. We're out of there now" I say hoping he isn't traumatized "your ok.." I say gently, walking through the water to sit in front of him. "Do-" he speaks quietly as I begin to listen intently. "Do you really love me?" He asks, his blank expression now lost as his eyes flicker towards me. My eyes widen, he actually heard me..? What am I supposed to say, or do, doesn't he love Annie? I sigh in response "you heard that?" I reply sheepishly with a chuckle. "Yah.." He breaths. I think for a moment. "Um.. Yah I do Finnick.. But I know you love Annie" I say, not meaning to sound so broken, but I've always had a hard time hiding my emotions. "It's ok." I finish, but Finnick frowns, almost as if he knows how I'm feeling right now. "(Y/N).. How long have you felt this way?" My eyes flicker to the pool of water we are currently sitting in, watching the sand as it swirls around in the clear waves. "For a while." I finally speak, my voice cracking ever so slightly but I hope Finnick doesn't notice. I don't want him to know I care so much.
"I love you too" he speaks, making me look up confused. "What about Annie?" I ask, unsure and shocked he had said he loves me back. "I will always love Annie (Y/N).. But not the way I love you." He says, making this seem almost dream like. "Wha- when?" I don't know how to comprehend the situation. "Annie never loved me back after all these years.. But I kept trying.." Now he sounded broken. "I didn't realize what could be mine, until now." He knows how I feel I finally understand. "Being in these games with you.. Made me realize what I really want." He says, hesitantly grabbing my hand, so gently it was almost as if he held to hard I'd break. "And what is that?" I say even though I already know the answer. He smirks, leaning in so our noses are inches apart. "You" he whispers.
