Cal Solstice

I know Amara would mock me, and Ryan would ask me to tell the truth, and Katharine would just stare at me but I actually enjoy the fame that I have.

"Amara, I can hear you laughing," Cal said turning to the girl behind him with a glare, knock it off before continuing.

It reminds me of what I want to accomplish in this world. Peace, just like my father has in this city, but I want it to spread out across the human world and into the monster lands. Today the solstice is one of those days that I can almost see it happening when everyone is together, when my father, the Monster King and Omen Sithe speak for that short time I can almost see it happening.

"Adrian, that includes you too," he added beginning to understand why the other two were fighting so much as they wrote, this was really annoying.

That's what kept back the typical human response when I saw the boy behind us in line. Call it intuition or just guesswork but I automatically knew he was one of the spellborn. And that was what inspired my next action. As Amara called for me to follow I turned around to the boy, "do you want to come with us," I asked.
He seemed reluctant but eventually he followed us. Once out of the group everyone seemed to ease up, Amara took off her hood and had thrown back her cloak in a more cape like fashion and the new kid seemed more willing to speak.
Amara surprisingly recognized this and finally spoke to him, "I'm Amara," she said simply with her typical smile.
"Adrian," he said less on edge though admittedly I couldn't blame him if he was, he was a spellborn and everyone knew the Sithe family killed the quite often, they wiped out a large portion winning them the title of monster hunters.

Adrian scowled at him for a moment, "I wasn't nervous," he said.
Amara flicked him with her wing, "you were," she argued and I nodded my agreement.

Amara had paused for a while curiosity momentarily covering her face but she hid it a skill that I swear is a result of their magic. "Where do you want to go," she finally asked a grin crossing her face as she began to list off ideas despite our current lack of answers, "we can go play games, or watch one of the children's plays, or get more food," she suggested seeming unwilling to suggest just yet that they leave until she knew their new companion.
"How about games," I suggested remembering seeing Ryan back there. "But you can't use magic," I added stressing the point and leaving Amara to mimic a wilting plant.
"But it's so much fun," she said with a giggle turning to Adrian, "come on," she said taking off through the crowd using her wings to move faster.
"We should hurry," I said laughing, "she might just run and forget where she's going otherwise."

***
Surprisingly enough such a comment got no response from Amara, instead she simply passed the notebook to Adrian not saying a word.
