-Process of rewriting the film-

My goodness, this took a lot longer than I expected. To be honest, I started typing this rewrite back around December, 2019. There,  around 22-24th, I did as much research on the plot as much as possible. To make sure the important aspects of the plot is still fresh in my mind, I occasionally pull up a Wikipedia article that summarizes the movie. I was finished typing the rewrite around New Year's eve, but I keep on either forgetting to make edits, been busy with other aspects in my life, or have days where I don't feel like doing anything (which I have more than intended). Finally, on January 28th, I was finally finished with the rewrite for real!

-My thoughts on my rewrite-

Now that I look back at it, I did most of what I could. Just by looking at the reviews alone, I thought it'll be easy to rewrite this film. Once I have to start creating differences from the original plot and make sure my ideas are connected, it was a lot harder than I expected. I got occasionally stumped on some parts, but I started to lighten up with every change I've made. Now that the rewrite is finished, I was proud of myself. I feel that I've addressed most of the problems the original film has, such as the locations and characters. Granted, the rewrite may seem like a longer film than the original, but I wanted to put in as much details as possible to make it easier for readers to visualize the rewrite.  It's a long and tiring process, but it was worth it. Since this is the first type of writing I ever did, it was a cool experience to play around with an another story other than fanart (not sure if it counts though).

-Does the film deserve more love?-

Again, I have NOT watched the film myself. However, from what I can see from the trailers, snippets and reviews, the film seems fine. The film does have a couple of problems I've already addressed, but it's not a monstrosity. It seems to lack creativity, but the film has potential. In fact, the film could've been great if only the writers take an another look and make edits. Think about it, this is a toy brand. There's a lot of promise for creativity and imagination that can be made from these toys. If only the film could express the heart Playmobil gives to children over the years, it could become a hidden gem. I can't bring myself to outright insult the film because of the wasted potential it had became.

As I was doing my research on the plot, I noticed that the film has a ton of comparisons to the Lego Movie (I'm guilty of joking around the Playmobil movie being a knock-off to the Lego Movie). It may share a lot of similarities to the Lego Movie (especially the western world, which is the most difficult part of me to rewrite), but it's not a fair comparison because the toys are designed for different types of play. The toys center around imagination, but caters to kids who want to express it in a certain way. Playmobil itself is for roleplay while Lego focuses on building. I can go on and on for how Playmobil toys aren't that bad, but I'm only talking about the film here.

Overall, the film isn't memorable but it doesn't deserve to get too much hate. I can see why many people dislike it, but I find the film to not be too bad. Hopefully the film's possible sequel will turn out a lot better than its predecessor.
