As Roman and I were walking along the main hallway towards our next classes, I saw Patton out of the corner of my eye. He had a huge grin on his face and extra pep in his step. He was talking animatedly to Logan, who was standing right next to him. Logan, who had a book open, seemed to be slightly annoyed.

"Hey, Logan!" Roman called out.

Both him and Patton turned around.

"Yes, Roman?" Logan muttered.

"Do you know when the cast list will be up?"

"It should be tomorrow. If there are any delays, I'll let you know."

"You should join our theater group chat," I said.

"Absolutely not," Logan seethed.

"Aw, come on! That way you'd have to see Roman less! And avoid social interaction!" Patton reasoned.

"What is it with you humans and using my love for efficiency and logic against me?" Logan sighed as he slammed his book shut.

"Please? Pretty please?" Patton pleaded.

Logan took out his phone, which was very small and plain. He pressed his finger to it and it unlocked, allowing him to get to his messaging app.

"Give me your number," Logan ordered as he faced Patton.

"No, I need to add you to the chat! Let me see your phone," Patton argued as he blew a raspberry.

"You cannot see my mobile device, I will simply read my number off- HEY!" Logan yelled as Roman took the phone out of his hands.

"Oh my god," Roman whispered as his face fell. "You have absolutely no contacts? Not even your parents?"

"Give. It. Back," Logan hissed.

Roman obliged, putting it gently in his hand.

"Sorry dude, I didn't think-"

"That is the problem with you brainless worms! You never think!" Logan mumbled.

"Hey, Logan?" Patton said softly. "I don't think Roman meant anything by that."

Logan's features softened as he tried to quickly wipe his eyes.

"I guess it didn't come as a shock that I am severely lacking friends... I just prefer to have control over my things. I don't like surprises, either," Logan replied as he glared at Roman.

I could barely hold back my laugh as Logan tried shooting daggers at Roman, who stood a solid forehead above him.

"Would you mind if you read your number, now? If you still want to, that is," Patton said hurriedly.

"I am unsure about the idea of a, as you called it, group chat. It would be more comfortable if perhaps only spoke with a single person? Less interacting," Logan admitted.

"I volunteer as tribute!" Patton grinned.

"Aw darn, I could have used Brains' help when it came to homework," Roman grinned.

Logan and Patton exchange numbers quickly and we split up once again. I felt a hand tap my back just as I was about to head to my English class.

"Hey... I would hug you or something but others are around and..."

"Roman, it's ok," I smiled as I offered a small wave goodbye.

My heart sank as he turned away. I'd just have to make up for this with hugs later. Assuming he even cares about me then. Considering I don't mess something up. Considering neither of us dies.
