I didn't actually know why i moved to this old farm. In the month that I've lived here, my mental health just kept decreasing, despite the fact that it was supposed to be refreshing.
The town members do seem nice though, but I am too awkward to talk to them. Major Lewis told me that I'm always welcome in the Stardrop Saloon to get to know everyone, but nobody would like a farmer girl with social anxiety anyways. But tonight was an exception. The sun was burning on my already red skin from all the farming I've been doing to come around and I just couldn't stand it anymore.
I need a beer.
First, I had to finish getting those damn weeds off my farm.
When I was done around 7PM, I made my way towards the Saloon. I opened the door and immediately, a wave of damp and sweaty air hit me in my face. It looked like they weren't having a bad time, maybe even fun. An aching feeling came in my stomach. I've never had fun.
"Hey you're that new farming girl right?" I heard someone behind the bar say.
I grabbed my map and looked at it. I think his name was Gus..?
"C'me here and have a drink, would ya?" he said. Anxiously, i moved forward to eventually sit on a creaking stool, that looked like it can collapse any minute.
Gus slid a beer across the bar towards me.
"you're over 18, right?" I simply nodded. I had just turned 19 actually. I took a few sips from my beer and began daydreaming about how my future will look like.
My cat and I will probably work every day until we die and the farm will become abandoned again. Eventually, someone else moves in and everything repeats itself.I snapped back to reality when i felt a soft touch on my shoulder. I turned my head and a cute girl with purple hair was smiling at me. Her cheeks were flushed from the alcohol.
"Hey stranger," she said with a double tongue. "What're you up to?"
I smiled. She was pretty. I mean, drunk. Pretty drunk.
"Nothing really," I mumbled, barely showing interest. The girl grabbed a stool and sat down next to me.
"My name is Abigail," she said. "But you can call me anytime." she winked. I actually didn't know how I could react to this, because I never really talked to people.
"Well hi Abigail, my name is Y/N" I said, trying not to stutter.
"Well," Abigail began, "I don't know you yet, so I'm going to call you stranger for now."
I tried not to roll my eyes. This was something that only happened in your typical romance books. My eyes went to the watch on my left wrist and widened. It was already 11PM! I had to go home and sleep, because tomorrow, a whole new day of watering those damn plants will require my energy.
"Sorry, I have to go." I mumbled to Abigail. Before I could stand up, she grabbed my hand and wrote something on there.
After I left the bar, I looked at the writing and saw a phone number. I shook my head and wiped the ink off my hand. She was drunk. I shouldn't take advantage of that.
