ok is it just me or are lesbians really not well represented at all. like, when you see pride merchandise, you'll see the gay flag, the bi flag, the trans flag, sometimes ace and enby and gender fluid, etc etc etc, but never see the lesbian flag. don't get me wrong, it's really important to represent all groups, but i've never seen any bit of lesbian merchandise in public, even when there's other lgbt merchandise.
i was in hot topic a few months ago, with my friend, and they had pride shirts. thinking i'd find a lesbian one i went over to the shirts. they had a pan (important, representation good) a general gay one, an ace one (again, representation good), a bi one (representation good) and intersex one (representation good) a trans one (representation good) and a non-binary one (representation is good) but they didn't have a single lesbian thing. whatever, maybe they're out of stock or something. so later i go online to look at their selection of pride stuff. okay, they technically do have lesbian shit, but like, still. they had everything else in store, and not a single lesbian thing. i even asked one of the employees if they had anything in the back and they said they don't carry lesbian pride shirts in the store. whatever. i'm not a karen and it was june so i just got a shirt with a general rainbow flag, it's not the employees fault, but it's a little frustrating.
y'all know those stores that are in different cities or whatever and they usually have a large selection of fun socks. i was with my grandparents and we went to one of these stores. i'm gay, so naturally i love fun socks, so i was looking around. my grandparents are homophobic, but they were off looking at some boomer shit, idek. i found the pride socks. obviously i'm not gonna grab pride socks off the thing and buy them with my grandparents there, but i figured i'd just look.
they had a ton of different flags represented- which is good- except for the lesbian flag. and that got me kinda upset. like, representation is important, but the l is literally the first letter, why can't you include a lesbian flag. no group is more important than another, but... i'm lesbian and i own no lesbian shit except for myself and a notebook that i wrote 'i like pussy' in at three am...
also i keep seeing shit on twitter that's just examples of people leaving lesbians out and it sucks. in one case, somebodies school library had this education center, and they included 'leather', not even a part of the lgbtq+ community, literally a kink, and 'bear', which is a sub community, but not lesbian. it's like people are scared of lesbians
straight guys fetishize us
straight girls are scared of us
i stg i can't deal with this
