Chapter 70: A Deadly Kiss

      *Lillie's POV: I ran out of the big house and started asking everyone I saw if they had seen Thanatos anywhere, all I got was 'What do you need with death? Aren't YOU the child of Hades?' Different things like that. Eventually, I ran into Nico by the strawberry fields. At first he kind of half smiled at me then he quickly grabbed me by the arms and glared at me so hard, I wouldn't have needed that stupid curse to put me six feet under. "Wh-Why do you smell like that?" he asked cautiously. I raised an eyebrow and sniffed near my arm, "I don't smell bad do I?" "No not like that, why do you smell like death?" he eyed me, paying attention to my every move. "Dude, you smell like it too, we ARE the children of death aren't we?" I said plainly. "Stop it! You smell like you're about to die if not already dead! What's going on?" "Oh that, that's the newest addition to my demigod problems, I have a curse from a god." 

      "YOU WHAT?! WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME? WHO IS IT? IS IT ZEUS?" he yelled, shaking me violently. "Nico calm down, look at me." I said trying to get him to stop freaking out. "Nico LOOK AT ME!" I hollered, grabbing his wrists to try to control him. "I'm fine, you need to breathe so you can help me lift this curse okay? I'm not dying and I'm sure as Hades not leaving you alone." Slowly, I got free of his grasp and was able to calm him down. "Ok, ok. So what do we do? Do you know who did it?" He asked. "Nico, I need you to help me find Thanatos." "Than- YOU ARE CURSED BY THE GOD OF DEATH? WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON THAT DAM ANGEL I SWEAR-" "Swear what? You can't kill me, I'm immortal. and I would love to see a puny demigod try to beat me." Thanatos said from behind him, not looking at me once.

      "You son of a-" "God I know, now I know you probably think I did that to her, well I didn't. Not on purpose atleast." he stated calmly. "Then why is she looking for you? What business does she have with you?" Nico demanded. "I don't know you demigods never know what you what." Nathan said but I noticed something change in his eyes though it was gone so quick I couldn't place it. "I just need to talk to him Nico I don't think he did it. Why don't you go back to the cabin and rest or go train." I stated, putting a little charmspeak in it. "Yeah, training." they both said as they started to turn to the training area. I quickly grabbed part of Nate's robe and told him he needed to stay. "Now Nate, we need to have a talk about a few things." "Yeah, I know. Let's go on a trip." he said before he grabbed me in his robes and the world slipped to black.

      I feel really warm, like I'm swimming in a warm bath. Smells like lavender and jasmine. I slowly open my eyes even though I don't want to, I shield my eyes from the sun and sit up to see I'm in a meadow of flowers. "Ah good you're awake, I was scared for a second." said a voice behind me. I turn around to see Nathan staring at me carefully in a human form. He was wearing a white button up and a pair of black dress pants. "Uhhhh" I stuttered stupidly, why did he have to look good in mortal clothes... He smirked and walked closer to me grabbing my forearm. "Can you stand?" He asked gently. I nodded and stood up slowly, we began walking without a destination.

       "Can I ask you a question?" I asked cautiously. "That's what we're here for." "Where is here?" "Oh, we're in one of my favorite places, The Asphodel Meadow. The real Asphodel Meadow not the phony in the Hades palace." he said looking around with a slight smile. "Oh, good. I don't really like dying more than twice." I said trying to crack a joke, Thanatos stopped smiling and looked at the ground. "We need to talk, but before we start I just want to say I'm sorry. I never meant for this to happen and I'm gonna try to fix it." he stated glumly. "What are you talking about? Are you talking about earlier? Really I should be apologizing, I shouldn't have been hitting on you." "What? No no, that's not what I mean. Well, kind of. I'm talking about your curse. I's because of me. Before you get mad , I did not intend for this at all. I really didn't mean for all this to happen. I do like you but for me to kiss you? That's taboo." he stated still staring at the ground.

     "Nate what are you talking about? Gods fool around with mortals all the time, that's why I'm here." he flinched when I said his name... "You were kissed by death, it lays a curse on you and will slowly start sapping away your soul, causing you to have passing out spells, make you more tired, not hungry, no energy, any wounds will hurt about ten times worse and they'll take longer to heal. They call it the kiss of death. Why do you think I don't have any children." "Nate I-" "Please Lillie, I'm so sorry. I really did not mean for this. I didn't think about the curse I was stupid and now I'm going to have to take you to your father with my own hands." He stopped walking and looks at me but won't meet my eyes. "Nate, it's okay. I'll find the cure and I can fix this." I grab his shoulders. "You don't understand, I don't know if there is a cure, no one has ever found it and I'm not even sure where it is." he said, panic in his voice. "Nathan we'll find it, I'll be fine, I cheated death before and I can do it again." I stated, smiling. "I hope you're right. We need to talk to Apollo. Now." he said before the world faded to black again.
