As I sat atop of the blanket, gazing across the beautiful green hills and flower beds, I felt an overwhelming sense of contentment. I mean, how could I not? With the golden hours warm rays hitting my skin, and the gentle breeze flowing through my hair, I couldn't comprehend how lucky I was to get to experience this.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I look over at the gorgeous green eyes focused on me, and immediately smile. It was only recently that I'd realized how his eyes shone when he looked into mine; how warm and inviting they always were.
"It's so...breathtaking. This all just feels so surreal. Being here, with you, looking out across the hills and soaking up the sun, just the two of us. My mind is a mess but here...I just feel so content and relaxed"
There's a certain smile he has, just for me, that I adore more than anything. It's small, and knowing, with a hint of playfulness, and it's the smile he's giving me right now. He's so beautiful. "Great minds think alike. I was waiting for you to ask me the same question, but you were too busy being weird"
"Shut up" I laugh, and smack his chest playfully. My reaction sends him into a fit of laughter, and it's like music to my ears. His laugh is so pure, so precious. When he laughs like this, his dimple becomes prominent, and his eyes and nose crinkle up in the cutest way.
He sobers up after a while and sighs. "I've been reflecting on everything I've ever experienced leading up to this point in time, and I thank my lucky stars that our paths crossed, and that I can be here, experiencing this with you" He looks over at me and my heart immediately begins to pound, as it always does whenever his eyes meet mine.
"You're ethereal my love. Everything about you-" He chuckles. "From the first time I laid eyes on you. That was it. Everything about you drew me in. Your smile, your eyes, your body. You know I'm not one for chasing. If it's meant to be it'll be. And sure enough..."
I move from where I'm currently situated and seat myself in between his legs, wrapping his arms around me and intertwining our fingers.
"Your love is different from any other. With you it's like...I can be myself, not that I couldn't be with the others but, you bring out more of who I am so easily and naturally. You just...get me. We're alike in so many ways yet so different. We share so many of the same interests but always have something new to bring to the table. You never cease to amaze and inspire me every single day. You support and encourage me so fiercely, and you're so honest about everything you feel and think. Although it's not very often, when we do argue over something, you make sure we don't leave until we've found common ground and things have been resolved, no matter the situation"
"From the sound of your voice, I can see I'm not the only one crying" I joke. I turn to face him and sure enough, his eyes are glistening, but he's smiling so widely, and I'm sure my face mirrors his. "You couldn't have come along at a better time. I know who I am. I know what I want. I know how to handle my emotions and certain situations. I know what I deserve. I love you, and I can't envision living a life without you now"
"Kiss me you fool" We giggle softly at my stupid response, and he kisses me so softly, so sweetly, that it makes me dizzy. "Oh and by the way...I love you too"
