Chapter Two

       His eyes were open but he lied lazily on the bed. It seems he had forgotten his recent visit to dreamland.

A loud, piercing noise startled James. It was his phone. Someone was calling him. He got out of his bed and headed for the living room. He answered.

"Hello?"

"James, my man. You sound like you just woke up from a nightmare."

A realization then dawned upon James. His nightmare.

"Who's this?"

"What? You don't know me? Stop kidding James."

"If you don't tell me who you are, I'm gonna hang up." Threatened James.

"Chill out, man. I'm gonna say who I am but before that..."

"Before that what?!"

"Wouldn't you like a world without suffering. A world without pain." His voice sounding more of a  growl than a normal voice.

James got scared. He remembered those words instantly. The month of torturing dreams said those words to him but how did this mysterious caller know that. He, James hadn't even told his girlfriend, Grace. Yet.

He quickly hanged up. He then dialled Grace's number and called.

"C'mon Grace. Pick up." He said to himself.

A few minutes later, someone picked up. The person didn't speak. James noticed the quietness of the person he called but he spoke first anyway.

"Grace. Can you come over to my place? I really need to talk to you."

"OK. I'll be there in a jiffy."

Call disconnected.

That didn't sound like Grace, at all. Grace was a talker. James looked at the phone in confusion.

Then suddenly, there was a knock. James turned towards the door. He listened attentively to hear it again. But to his surprise, the knock didn't come again.

James shrugged and decided to go to the kitchen to make breakfast. As he was going, the door creaked open.

And he, James heard it........
