World Economic Forum in Davos. After the emergency conference in Rome was finished with an overall agreement that the most important agenda in today's world is to find new ways to build TRUST all main players agreed on stopping any aggressive verbiage and to stay away from any increase in military threads. In the meanwhile lower level groups of negotiators wanted to evaluate ways to use digital means to build in a systematic way TRUST between the different players.
The opening speech was held by Manuel Santos the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former President from Colombia who had signed in 2016 a treaty with the guerrilla organization FARC which had ended a long bloody war.
The agenda of the Davos summit had shifted towards the main theme of urgency how to build TRUST among opponent parties. It had become obvious that this theme was at the center of not only peace but also of climate change and even the theme of digitization as the main topic for the new decade.
The FARC had signed a peace treaty with the Colombian government which guaranteed amnesty for most of the FARC. However, it was obvious that the healing was could not be ordered by government or concealed by a peace treaty alone. This was a more complex situation. People had lost relatives due to violence.
A moving presentation was held on day two by the US actor Morgan Freeman talking about reconcilation in Ruanda after the civil war and genocide in 1994 after having visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial site. Among the peace building initiatives are the Ubumuntu (pronounced oo-boo-moo-noo) a Kinyarwanda word meaning 'to be human', 'to care about others', 'to be generous and kind' and to recognize the humanity of others. The Ubumuntu Conversations was attended by Rwandans from all walks of life - senior officials from Rwandan government, academics and the international community.
It became clear that the internet and media will play a crucial role in enabling a form of 'Ubumuntu' on a greater global scale.
As a spontaneous outcome it was decided that Iran and the US will commit to a series of talks (chats) between ordinary people for both countries on a platform which was set up for that purpose and which would allow anonymity but at the same time allow the opportunity to build personal bridges and find TRUST. The platform which was very similar to the platform www.tchat.live was organized by large media outlets together from the US and Iran.
