Aura was sitting outside Kythone's door and sharpening one of her many weapons. She kept an eye on the twins and the other children. She had already had her things packed since she had just returned from a mission.

"Hello? Aura right?" Alex walked to her and sat down. She gave him a slight glare but nodded. "Cool, I'm Alex." He smiled and held out his hand for her to shake. She just stared at him and he put his hand back down. "Or not, that's okay. Um you're not like the girls in my village. They have really long hair and hat mud." Alex smiled proudly at his statement.

"So? Got a problem with it?' She growled at him, obviously annoyed.

"No! I never said that! I just meant you were different, that's all." Alex defended. Aura grumbled and stood up.

"The girls in your village are just the none-fighting type. I see no reason for you to compare them to me." Aura huffed as she turned, her short black hair waving in the wind. "Jeez boys like you are so annoying." She said as she walked away to the children to rush them off to their caretakers.

Alex sighed in defeat and plopped his head on his hand. "Girls are so complicated." He groaned.

"Please forgive her, she hates being compared to others." Kythone startled the poor farmer boy and he turned into a shadow before calming and going back to normal.

"Is she always so cold to newbies or am I special?" Alex let out a chuckle, making Kythone shake his head in amusement.

"She takes a bit to warm up to people but she's actually pretty sweet. Just a bit of advice, don't compare her." Kythone gave him a small smile then reached his hand down to him. "Help me? Ommin is off helping his mom and my energy's drained. My magic eyes aren't working very well."

Alex nodded and linked their arms awkwardly. Kythone laughed and moved his hand to rest on his shoulder. "Just walk." He said simply.

Alex didn't want to argue so he nodded and started leading the boy into the crowd. The adults were speaking in whispers, shooing any children away. Alex walked to where the children were gathered. Anni and Aatami were holding hands and creating a long vine together, the small vines twisting together. The vine looked to be fifty or so feet. The kids that were gathered around them each took a piece of the vine and wrapped it around their waist.

"What are they doing?" Alex asked.

"They're making a traveling vine. All children hold onto it to keep them from being taken. The vine keeps a tight hold on them. Though when we turn 15 then we're allowed to travel on our own." Kythone explained.

Suddenly the wind picked up and the sky turned a dark gray. The sound of a horse's gallop filled the ears of all around. Kythone shivered and pulled his coat closer to him.

"Children! Behind me!" Aura yelled, her spear pointing towards the hill where the darkness was coming from. All the children crowded behind her and she got into a fighting stance. Kythone calmly walked to the hill without Alex leading him. "Kythone! Come back!" Aura called.

Kythone continued to walk up the hill, stumbling a bit as the horses hooves neared. Kythone held out his hand and used his already exhausted seeing magic. He saw a dark horse with a cloaked figure galloping towards him. The shadows seemed to fold over the horse. Kythone continued to stand there, trying not to pass out from power overuse. The cloaked person with the horse stopped in front of the thin boy.

"Stand aside boy!" The cloaked man's voice boomed like lightning. Kythone seemed unfazed as he reached to pet the horse, black as night and fierce as the wind.

"Lunar has grown." Kythone said softly as the horse relaxed when Kythone pet him. The cloaked man let out a low laugh.

"I see you have met my horse of hell! Now tell me your name!" The cloak bellowed, lightning striking in the background. Kythone's head started falling as he tried to speak. His hand fell to his side. "Uhhh peasant?" The cloak looked down at him.

Kythone collapsed, falling down the steep hill. Aura gasped and ran towards him but before she could the cloaked figure's horse, who was named Lunar, ran toward him. The cloak grabbed him and pulled him onto Lunar. Lunar slowed to a gallop as she neared the group of children.

"Kythone! Let go of him you fiend!" Aura ran towards then and held her spear to the cloaks throat. He let out a chuckle, seeming to only hold Kythone tighter.

"Now now sweetheart. That's no way to treat your future king and husband is it?" Of course they all knew who that was.
