"Father, can you tell me a story?" a little boy asks his father, sounding no older than 11 or 12.

A man chuckles warmly before asking his son. "Alright, child. Which story do you want me to tell you?"

"The Legend of the Forest King! Please, Father?" the child pleads.

"Many years ago,  there was a war going on. The Light fought against each other to see who would govern the wizarding world. Then, a powerful wizard who lived in the forest named Azulon appeared. They say that all the magical creatures respected him. Azulon received a vision from the Goddess of Magic herself,  Lady Hecate,  who gave him the ability to transform into a wolf with wings, eyes like a basilisk and venomous as a basilisk. Naming him the Forest King, Azulon dispersed the battle and the  leaders of the rebellion were exiled from the country... Forever. To protect his ability, Azulon asked Lady Magic to only grant this ability to the one who was raised with no love, no friends, no family, and a desire to prove their worth. Then, he disappeared. Ever since then, Lady Magic has been searching for the one who will become the next Forest King."

"And you think that it could be me who becomes the next Forest King,  Father?" the child asked.

"I think that it's very likely,  Severus. My little snakelet. I love you, son. Me and your Papa do."

"..vrus. ...evrus. Severus!" yelled a voice, snapping Severus out of his thoughts.

A girl with fiery red hair and brilliant green eyes sat down next to him in a huff. "I've been calling your name for the past five minutes. What's got your head in the clouds?" she asked. The two friends were in the library, having just completed their O.W.L.S.

Severus looked at her sheepishly. "Sorry, Lily. I was just thinking of a story that my father told me back at the Manor."

Lily looked at him for a second before her emerald eyes sparkled with interest. "Really? What was it called?"

"It was called "The Legend of the Forest King"."

"Maybe you'll be the next Forest King, Sev." Lily suggested, laying on his shoulder.

"I don't think so, Evans. If anyone's going to be the next Forest King,  it's gonna be me." James Potter boasted as he walked up to the duo with Sirius, Remus, and Peter in tow.

"Buzz off, Potter! How many times have I told you that I won't go out with you! My heart belongs to Sev." Lily snapped quietly but furiously. "Now you three boys better scram before I hex you from the South Pole to the North Pole with Sev's yodeling spell. Remus, you can stay."

The three boys ran as fast as they could, leaving Remus behind.

"Okay, Remus. It's my 14th birthday in two days, but I wanted to spend it with you two and my dad. He's coming to spend the next two weeks here tomorrow. I wanted to tell you this, he used to be Lord Voldemort, the heir of Slytherin.  But, I located his horcruxes and reunited his soul. Now he's sane and working in the Ministry. He named me his heir in magic and blood." Severus revealed, looking at his only friends.

Lily and Remus were shocked at learning that their friend was adopted  by the Slytherin Lord, but they were happy for him.

"You know what, Sev? I'm happy for you. Now you have a family to call your own. One that makes you feel happy, healthy and safe. I just noticed that your hair is cleaner and longer and your nose doesn't have that hook anymore," Lily observed. Remus noticed it too.

The next morning at breakfast, Lord Marvolo Slytherin Riddle made his appearance. He was an extremely handsome man who had short brown hair and warm chocolate brown eyes.
