The time was 10pm. Darkness was fallen on the town. People were inside with their families and nobody was walking outside. Even though it was December and the weather was cold - there were no snow. Last year at this time there were almost 1 meter of snow. There always is a lot of snow that time of the year. But not this year. This year was just rain and mud.
Sissy was walking on the street. She was the only human outside. It was completely dark but Sissy didn't need lights to know where she was going. She grew up in this town and she knew every inch of her side. She wasn't sure what is on the other side tough since she was so young when they put gates on the bridge and told everyone that crossing the bridge is now only allowed one time in a week - Tuesday 10am until 5pm and only people over 18 can cross the bridge. She would have loved to see what's on the other side further than houses next to the bridge.
Sissy reached the gate. She got past the gate pretty easy - well she has done it many times before. She walked on the bridge and sat on the edge, her legs over the edge and just sat there. She was thinking her own thoughts as she heard a voice.
"No don't do it!! This is not a solution! Everything will be okay I promise!!"
Sissy was confused.
"Don't do what?"
"Don't jump down to the highway!"
Sissy burst into laughter. Now it was time for the boy to be confused.
"Why are you laughing? I didn't say anything funny!"
"Yes you did!" said Sissy trough laughing.
"What?!"
The boy was very confused.
"I was not going to jump!" said Sissy to explain.
"Wait what?"
"I come here every night to think and watch cars drive. Sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows but I am here every single evening."
"Oh......"
"But I'm glad to know that someone at least cares."
"Heh..."
"Oh come on sit with me!"
"I can't. The gate..."
"Oh right. Your one is almost impossible to sneak by..."
And then a thought came to Sissy.
"Sit next to the gate and I sit next to it here. Then we are basically next to each other."
Boy sat next to the gate and Sissy moved closer. They looked at the highway.
"There are usually more cars.." said Sissy.
"It's winter and it's late - people are home."
"You're probably right."
They sat there for a while until the clock hit midnight.
"I should go home." said the boy.
"Yeah I will start going too."
"Bye!"
"See you here tomorrow?"
"Sure!"
Sissy started walking home. Everything was quiet and dark. She walked past the abandoned orphanage and closed shops. Finally she reached her street. All the houses looked exactly the same but gates and fences were all different. She opened her gate and went inside locking the gate behind her. Her mom was at work so there were nobody in the house. She went in and made sure every door and window were locked. Then she changed her clothes and went upstairs to her room. She fell asleep quickly.21st December 1669
She was dead and she knew it. At first she didn't understand anything but then a lovely man was dreaming about her. That was exactly what she needed. Someone thinking about her, missing her. That was the only way she could become conscious of her dead being. Belle walked closer to the mansion. It was time to scare them. Every year at this exact time her dead being got all the power she needed to become mostly alive. That was the time she entered the mansion. Belle walked through the door. She went straight to the master bedroom. As she walked in she saw them sleeping - calm and happy but soon to be scared. Mr and Mrs Wilford. Belle sat on their bed, stared at them. Mrs Wilford clearly felt uncomfortable and she opened her eyes. Her screams were heard all over the town. Her husband woke up and had a heart attack. His funeral was 9 days later. Mrs Wilford died of sadness 9 weeks later. Their son took over the mansion but never were there on 21st December. It was a smart decision. He got married and had kids. But every December 21st they were all away...
