Niall was leaving me again, after only 3 days. It had been almost 6 months since we met eachother in Melbourne. It was already 2014, and easing into Autumn.
His stay in my area was a lot of fun; we stayed in a cabin at Wilson’s Promontory rather than my house and swam a lot.
I gained over 200,000 followers on Twitter after my name was released as the girl who kissed Niall Horan at the airport. I was surprised at how little hate I received, but I guess a kiss didn’t really mean anything to the fans.
Anyway, I was with Niall at the airport once again as he waited to catch his plane to Cairns for a short holiday with his brother, Greg. It was easier this time around to watch Niall as he left, because I knew he would keep contact as he had the past half-year. We weren’t dating or anything, but he did tell me he loved me a lot.
After boarding his plane, I left and drove back home. I’m only 16, so it was illegal. But watching the speed limit, having no L-plates on and looking older with my large sunglasses was an advantage. I made it home in 3 hours after picking Kate up from a town along my route, replying to Niall’s awaiting text. He had just arrived in Cairns, so we talked for a little before I bid my mum goodnight, and Kate and I slept until midday the next day.

Two months.
It’s been two months since Niall and I lost contact. I still had fairly regular contact with the other boys, but didn’t bother bringing up Niall’s absence.
Tumblr, Twitter and gossip websites were plastered with images and articles about ‘Nemi’. Demi Lovato’s cool and all, but I’m fucking hurt. It’s been four months since I’d seen Ni and I was auditioning for the Xfactor in 6 days.
The nerves had already prematurely kicked in, but I kept myself assured that it didn’t matter if I didn’t get through or humiliated myself in front of thousands of people. At least I tried, right? I had picked Harry’s audition song ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ to sing, and no one except Kate knew of my audition. Mum thought we were going shopping. No one even knew I could sing, so I guess it wouldn’t matter because I probably wouldn’t get through anyway.

“You’re on! Give it your all, honey!” An audio-assistant woman said, giving me a small pat and rushing me out towards the stage. I breathed loudly and deeply, giving a small smile back towards Kate, who was waiting backstage to watch my audition on the TVs. I took one big breath and walked onto the huge stage. My breathing staggered as I took in the sight of the cheering crowd, blurred by the bright lights in my eyes.
I was wearing yellow patented Doc Martens and tucked in loose blue jeans that I’d bought when I met One Direction. For a top, I had a black and white One Direction shirt I’d had for 3 years and plum coloured suspenders. My hair was wavy and I looked exactly like Caroline Flack with my bright red lips and faux tan skin.
Louis, Liam, Zayn and Harry’s faces, wishing me good luck over Skype popped into my mind and a dashing smile spread across my face.
“Hello!” Mel B cheered. “What’s ya name, love?”
“Ce-Celeste Orita.” I stuttered.
“Lovely name!” She exclaimed in her British accent. I smiled in return.
“Tell us about yourself, cutie.” Rita Ora said. Oh my God, Rita Ora just called me a cutie!
“Um, I live near Wilson’s Prom, just out of a town that only has like 200 people. I work in a café and I’m 16.” I flashed a small smile. “I’m the biggest Directioner in my school, I’m obsessed.. Conor Maynard and Rita Ora are my idols and should make a whole album together. I have an obsession with Britain and my music taste is, erm, individual?” I smiled at Rita as several people cheered in the audience.
“Um, there’s not much else to say because my life virtually revolves around One Direction.” Mel and Rita laughed with me along with the crowd. “Oh, and only like four people have ever heard me sing and the only person that knows I’m here is my bestfriend Kate, who is backstage.” The crowd ‘aw’ed.
Simon Cowell, who was a judge this season, shifted in his seat and clamped his hands together and parted his mouth to speak.
“What will you be singing for us today?”
“Isn’t She Lovely.” I replied, my smile faltering and shrinking, my heart rate increasing with it.
“Harry Styles’ audition song?” Reece Mastin, who was also a judge this year asked. I nodded.
“Hey, you’re the girl who kissed Niall a few months back, right?” Simon piped up again. My face dropped and I looked down as I nodded. “He talks about you a lot. Take it away.”
With my heart fluttering thanks to what I just heard, I took a deep breath before I began without music to guide me, as I was singing A Cappella.
I looked up toward the top rows, blinded by the lights and began. I was in my own world, singing for my life until I ended gently and opened my eyes. I hadn’t noticed the crowd cheering from my first verse until I exhaled and came back down to earth.
Reece was standing on the bench clapping above his head, cheering with the audience. Rita and Mel were standing and clapping with huge smiles on their beautiful faces, while Simon still sat, his finger tracing his bottom lip with the biggest smile I’d seen on him at an audition before. HE LIKED ME!
I’d picked up on Simon’s body language over the years, and I can tell when he’s imagining people’s futures in his head. I suddenly became 20327836% more confident and a huge smile finally surfaced on my face.
“You are a GODSEND!” Reece yelled into his microphone after he settled down. I smiled and swayed a little.
“I completely agree, you’re gorgeous too!” Rita complimented me in her deep English accent.
“You’ve got the whole package darling!” Mel said, pursing her lips.
“You’re through to bootcamp too, because I think we all agree on a huge yes.” Simon said, a smirk on his aging face.
“Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!” I squealed, waving at the cheering audience and skipping backstage.
“Well done honey!” The same assistant said, patting my arm as I handed her the microphone. The next audition was mouth-watering! He had light brown, between wavy and curly hair, tanned skin and blue eyes. I checked him out quickly, smiling at him as he congratulated me. Damn, his voice was sexual. I wonder whether he was a decent singer.
“CELESTE, YOU WERE FUCKING AMAZING! BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE!” Kate screamed, engulfing me in her arms and squeezing me tightly.
I was handed an envelope with the deets about bootcamp and Kate and I made our way to the closest bus stop, preparing for the long ride ahead. Checking my Twitter when our bus was about an hour away from home, I realised I’d gained a few hundred followers from the audience, as it wouldn’t be aired on TV for around 6 weeks. Doing my usual, and going onto Niall’s profile, I saw a recent tweet.
‘@CelesteOrita well done on your audition sweetie! told u youd smash it!!!’
My mouth fell open and I dropped my phone. How did he know?
Kate grabbed my phone and her eyes widened as she read the tweet. She dropped my phone back into my lap and stared at me, her mouth parted slightly.
“H-how?” She asked. I shrugged and felt my eyes stinging, so I blinked rapidly. He couldn’t have been there, could he? I stared out the window and watched as two black Range Rovers passed the bus.
What a day.
