The movement caught me off guard and I yelled out, "Hey!"
We both quickly realized in that moment how close we were. He quickly let go of my arms and I scrambled to push myself off of him. I sat back and he straightened himself into more of a sitting position. I knew the moment was awkward. He knew the moment was awkward. The tension was thick around us, so I did what any normal person would. I decided to make the situation even more awkward.
I quietly said, "Bradan?"
He copied my hushed tone, "Yeah?"
"Never let your guard down."
He gave me a slightly confused look, but I tickled him anyway. I tickled him as fast and as hard as I could because, as I guessed, he was in control of my hands as quickly as he had let them go before. I gave him a mischievous smile and he slowly started to smile with me.
He said, "Oh you're going to regret that little trick."
He immediately pounced on me. He put his body weight on top of me so I was laying on my side and he started to tickle me. I soon had tears rolling down my eyes from laughing so hard, but Bradan didn't let up. He didn't stop tickling me until I heard a voice behind him yell.
The voice yelled, "GUYS!"
We both instantly stopped what we were doing and saw that Benjamin was standing right next to the square with his arms crossed and an unbelieving face staring us down. Bradan quickly clambered away, trying to act as if Benjamin didn't just find us in the middle of a tickle fight.
Bradan said awkwardly after a few seconds, "Yeah?"
"I've been trying to call you for like ten minutes!"
Bradan quickly pulled a phone out of his pocket while I silently looked down at the cushions. They were suddenly the most interesting cushions I had ever seen. He turned it on and smiled up at Benjamin sheepishly.
He said slowly, "I must not have heard it."
Benjamin said, "Yeah. I concluded when I walked in here that you weren't that focused on your phone."
I felt a blush creep in to my face, but I stayed looking at the cushion.
Bradan asked, "What's wrong?"
Benjamin replied in a business-like tone, "There's been numerous reports of gang violence all around town tonight, all at once. It's like they all just decided to start doing stuff at the same time. It's weird Shadow, we better check it out."
Bradan said quickly, "She knows I'm Bradan here at the house. You can stop calling me Shadow."
Benjamin relaxed and said, "Good. I'm glad that's all cleared up, but we need to check this out immediately."
Bradan nodded and stood up quickly. I was slightly hoping that he wouldn't have to go work, but after what just happened, maybe it was for the best.
He quickly said, "I take it from how disinterested you were in that movie that you would prefer a different one for while I'm gone?"
Before I could answer, Benjamin cut me off.
Benjamin said from behind Bradan, "Oh I'll show her how to put another movie in. I would love to watch a movie with Aleksandria! From what little I saw, she knows how to make watching movies fun!"
I almost burst out laughing at Bradan's face but I held it in long enough for Bradan to slightly narrow his eyes at Benjamin, and then literally drag Benjamin out of the room by the shoulder of his shirt. I slowly followed behind the two and realized that Bradan was taking Benjamin toward the area of the house that I wasn't allowed in. I knew the area had something to do with his work, but to what part of his work I had no idea.
Almost as if he was reading my thoughts, Bradan said, "Aleksandria, don't come any further please. You can watch another movie alone until I get back, since Benjamin has to more than likely help me with my job."
I rolled my eyes and Benjamin said, "Don't worry Aleksandria! I'll be there tomorrow morning to wake you up and take you to breakfast!"
I laughed when I heard Bradan say to Benjamin in a stern voice, "She doesn't need help getting to the kitchen anymore. You'll be perfectly fine going to the kitchen alone tomorrow morning Benjamin."
I walked back toward the movie theater, since I didn't really want to do anything else. I sat back down and kept watching the movie that Bradan and I were watching before since I didn't necessarily want to get up from the comfy pillows and blankets. After a few minutes of not really watching the movie, I felt my eyelids getting heavier by the minute and my will to move to my room to go to sleep quickly faded away. I closed my eyes and dozed off into a dreamless sleep.
