Kaminari and Sero are notorious within class-1A for always referring to not only each other but all the students within the class with absurd nicknames, or for each other petnames.

Kaminari tends to use more cutesy or sweet names with all those around him. For example; instead of Mina or Ashido, Kaminari insists on calling her Princess. He believes with all his being that such an entity like Mina would deserve no less! Where as typically known as Kirishima, Kaminari instead refers to him as Sunshine as he emits sunshine and positivity wherever he goes. Same for Deku but instead is referred to as Sunny or Sunbun a combination of sunshine and cinnamon bun which Kaminari believes was a clever creation on his behalf. He also loves calling Uraraka Sweetcheeks due to their natural blush and the baby fat she still holds there. The first time he had referred to her in that manner there had been a bit of an uproar, but with some quick explanations and Seros tape on Jirou the air had been quickly cleared. Now Uraraka insists that Kaminari call her anything but her chosen nickname.

Whereas Kaminaris nicknames are more sweet per say, Seros nicknames tend to be on the more friendly teasing side. But not borderline name calling like Bakugou tends to do, despite all of class-1A adopting his names in a more positive light rather than a negative one and tend to do some teasing back. Sero takes his nicknames with a lesser meaning than Kaminari, like calling Shouji Octoboy, for his multiple number of limbs and he simply believed that the name had a nice ring to it. Shouji could not agree more despite some thinking it being a little insensitive. He also picked up on referring to Iida as Sonic, he knows its not the most original and can seem predictable. But when he saw the class presidents excited grin at his new nickname he couldn't help but let it stick, turns out Sonic had been one of Iidas favourite characters growing up as a child. Momo had quickly become her Majesty within the first few weeks of school and has since stuck over the course of their first year into their second. Thanks to Sero all of Class 1-A refer to her as such and Momo, despite all her modesty couldn't find it in herself to ask them to stop.

Now Kaminari and Sero have a multitude of different nicknames and petnames for one another, so much so they could make a alphabetical notebook for them if they truly wanted to. But they each have one special petname that they use for eachother that has become their default names. Using their given names only in serious situations, these petnames have become what everyone has come to associate with both of the individuals.

First, Kaminari has always referred to Sero as My Love. Because to him and his young heart have never known anything else quite like the love that he knows he holds for the taller tape boy. He believes that Sero holds all the love that he could ever need or want and had instantly felt as though no other name could properly portray that like My Love could. Because what my love means to Kaminari is that Sero is the embodiment of his love. He knows it is VERY cheesy but he truly believes that Sero is the cause of the lightness and happiness that he now feels in his once heavy heart. Some may say he is still to young to understand the true meaning of what love is, but he would argue that they simply have yet the chance to experience such a love he has for Sero.

Seros petname for Kaminari is one that others wouldn't put as their first choice. Some assumed the typical lightning bug or bolt for his association to his quirk or mundane babe or hun because it seems like such a Sero thing to choose. However, everyone has become used to Sero referring to his significant other as; Firefly. Some were confused about the association between Kaminari and his dubbed petname but have quickly grown accustomed to it without much explanation on Seros behalf. "its because they're both small and light up DUH" he would tell others and they had come to accept that answer because there couldn't be more, right? Wrong. Sero had explained to a curios Kaminari one cuddle session his reason for choosing his nickname.

Similar to Kaminari, Sero sees him as the light in his life quite literally. He says that during the time before he had meet Kaminari he was in a very dark and cold place, he felt lost and isolated with no clue what to do. When he felt like he lost all hope and life had become a chore he was slowly losing motivation to complete day to day. There was this small but bright light he had felt himself slowly draw towards, the closer he moved towards the light the lighter and happier he felt. Life begun to have more colour and meaning, he was slowly beginning to feel a semblance of a better him the closer he drew to the light. Then the day he finally caught, what he calls his Firefly, everything seemed to make more sense, colours seemed clearer, days seemed brighter and he felt lighter. He admits that not everything was cured instantly and permantly just because he caught the Firefly, but it was a hell of a lot better then where he was before the little light had shined during that dark time.

When he 'caught' the Firefly is the moment when Sero had finally found the courage to ask Kaminari to be his. To which an enthusiastic YES was meet. When Sero finished his story there were tears in Kaminaris eyes and a promise to continue to be the light for Sero, for as long as would need him to be.

Some may see their petnames for one another overly cheesy and any other couple name, but both Kaminari and Sero know the true stories that their names have for eachother.
