Soon enough, we began to prepare for landing. Our next flight was from Illinois to Maine. Then to Ireland at last. We were going to stop here for the night in Illinois. It was going to be a 2 and a half hour flight. We'd get there after 11:00.
When we got off, we had a half an hour until our car would come. We decided to spend an hour walking about the airport for a few minutes until then.
"So what else are we going to do?" he asked. I'm starting to think he's scared of my insane stunts planned. Good. Fear is good. It gives you more of a chance to be brave and toughen up. "I'm not really sure... I think I'll just let it fall into place as we go along."
Wrong. I'm always planning ahead. I spoke my fluent language. Sarcasm. "That was sarcastic wasn't it?" he asked. "Yep. I have things planned for the next week." I replied. "Are they insane?"
Awhile ago, I told him everything I'd ever wanted to try. It consisted of wild things. Motorcycling, ziplining, deep sea diving, cliff diving, rock climbing, parachuting. Intense things like that.
Luke refused to do most of these, and refused to let me try these things. So, I took matters into my own hands and made plans to try almost all of these. Some of them I understand that their dangerous. So I kept the stunts to a minimum.
"Just the slightest bit. But hey, we need a bit of insanity in our lives like we need the blood in our veins." His expression dropped. "You didn't." "I did." I said with a grin. "It's practically the second day and your already making those heartfelt quotes." He tried to keep a serious face. "Oh no. Not the quotes." I laughed. "Oh it's the quotes."
"I remember a few years ago when you would just speak quotes all the time. fluently almost." I laughed. "And I remember a few years ago how you would just be flirting. Fluently almost." I said. "And I remember your attempt in being sassy." I laughed. "Oh I was." He pulled me into a hug as he said, "you tried but your cuteness ruined it."
"I'd rather be sassy than be cute. Why am I so cute, dammit." I joked. My phone rang. The car was here so we collected our suit cases and made our way to the parking lot.
Luke took the keys and jogged over to the drivers seat. "I'd prefer a faster car, but whatever works." He said. "Just be glad I didn't get you a mini van or something." I replied.
"You'd be the one to drive that, baby. I don't think I'd look good behind the wheel of a minivan." I laughed. "I'll keep in mind to get you a minivan or something close to it." He took his eyes off the road for a second as he said, "oh don't even think about it."
We drove around for awhile looking for the hotel. "Ah there it is." We pulled into the hotel and settled in within the next hour.
"I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted." He said shrugging off his jacket. "Me too, plane rides are always exhausting." I dug around my suitcase for a t shirt and shorts.
I changed in the bathroom and soon after I finished getting ready for bed. I climbed under the covers and Luke plopped down next to me. "Hey." he said. "Hey." I replied back.
I had not even a second before he put his arm over me and brought me closer to him. "It's okay, your safe with me now." I smiled at the thought of now it wasn't just him behind a screen. It was him. Heart beating, lips smiling, eyes shining, and holding me.
"And your safe with me now as well." I kissed the tip of his nose and smiled, listening to his heart as we drifted off to sleep.
