"Hey Zero, What's thimalin  do?" Zero turned to me and cocked his head to the side, purple eyes focused on the book. He stood and leaned over me and the book, scanning the pages with an owl like glare.

"Why are you reading this anyway?" He squatted in front of me and smiled as I looked at him and scowled. He cupped my chin and kissed my forehead.

"I asked you a question can you just answer it ,please?" He sat behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist, kissing my cheek. I groaned and huffed.

"I love it when you say please." He kissed my neck and laid his head on my back, squeezing me closer to him. I closed the book, setting it down to turn towards him. I lifted his head and his eyes met mine. He reminded me so much of that human. What was him name? Umm.... Reverend? Even?... Ev... Everin! Right. Everin.

I held eye contact with him, desperately wanting to know the answer to my question. He sighed and kissedmy hand. I left it there to rest on his cold, smooth cheek.

"Unfortunatley, I have no idea what it does, but I know what we can do." He picked me up by my legs and laid me down on the bed across from the futon. I groaned quietly and his eyes caught mine once again. I was losing interest. I didn't want him, but I didn't want to break his heart.

"Is something wrong, Mathy?" I ran his thumb across my cheek and I closed my eyes.

"I'm... I'm just not feelin' it today. A bit tired." I looked up and gave him a weary smile. His eyes softened, his hands dragging down my hips and sliding under my back. Zero laid his head on my stomach and sighed, giving me the impression he was going to say something.

There was nothing. Nothing but two hearts slowly beating and two breaths slowly breathing. I loved him, but that human had something. Something more than just ruins.

--

I had made it out of the building with a purpose. To find him. I strode across the blood red streets of the Western Unit into the Hermaphrodite covered streets of Langton. Yes there were Hermaphrodites everywhere. I snuck past a group of chattering Slavilas, (half goat, half lizard people), into a small crawl space. The enterance was smaller with my satchel on, but I made it through.

As I slithered through, I made it into the large empty space. It had looked like the old abandoned human warehouses, but with Perial weeds wrapping around the broken windows and up the brick walls. I loved this place. It was the only place I was able to be alone.

I looked around the vast room and saw the old rusty ladder I had left there to get atop the ledge. I heaved the ladder on my shoulder and swung it into the concerete ledge, making in slightly impail the edge. I swung my satchel over the ledge and climbed up the ladder.

There it was. My sacred space just as I had left it. My collection of library books had still been stacked wildly around a large spread of blankets atop the barren concrete, pillows lining the edges of the space for a sense of security.

I picked up my satchel and placed everything inside on the spread neatly, each notebook, pencil, paper all organized with a single half melted candle on them. I picked up one of the papers and pasted it onto the free wall behind the books. I sat on the spread and crossed my legs, closing my eyes. I was finding that human. I needed to.

I focused my hands into a sphere and recited  a slient chant. Faint winds came from the wall. I had opened a portal.

My eyes led me to a yellow colored room. It was his, I knew it. But instead of one person, there were to. Talking. One I recognized, one I didn't. The one I didn't recognize was half my size. The one I did was Everin. His back was bare and sweaty with blue liquid on it. I reached through and the air was cool like a window had been opened. The air smelled of something sweet. It was coming from him. Everin.
