Title: One More Chance

Rating: K+

**

Heather never ever cried. The last time she remembered crying- genuinely crying- was when she was five years old and scraped her knee on the sidewalk. But even then, that didn't count.

Now there were many times she wanted to cry. When she went bald, for example. However, her anger overshadowed her sadness and she just ended up yelling more.

Another time she wanted to cry was when her cat Bruiser died. She had that cat since she was eight and he had been one of her only friends. But once again, she didn't cry. She told herself that death was a natural part of life and she couldn't control it. And that just made her angry again. So she was mean to everyone who still had a cat or even brought up cats.

Then there was him.

He had made her feel emotions like never before. Love, anger, fear. And now, sadness. Sadness couldn't even describe it.

Why did I do that?! What is wrong with you, Heather? Who pushes someone off a volcano after they just confessed their love for you?!

She lay awake in bed, not wanting fall asleep. She knew that she'd only have nightmares of his face covered in ashes and him screaming in agony if she did.

The latest news she got on Alejandro was that he was still healing in the emergency room. She was afraid to see him. She knew it wasn't her fault he had been burnt. No one saw those stupid signs about not throwing pineapples into the volcano. Besides, he dropped her off a moving train, so it's not like she was the only one who was in the wrong. But she still felt awful. And she knew if she visited him, he'd turn her away. I guess I deserve it.

Her eyes filled with tears as she stared up at her ceiling. She wanted to take back that day. More than anything. But the damage had already been done. What if he's paralyzed for life or something?! What if he loses one of his limbs?! She squeezed her pillow tightly. I hope he forgives me. Even if he doesn't love me anymore, I hope he does.

And then Heather cried. That was the only thing she could do now. She wanted to be with him. If he wouldn't have gotten burnt, she probably wouldn't have felt as bad because he was an asshole. But she still wanted him. He would've done the same.

Would he have?

That question spun in her mind as she let all of her tears out that were held in for so long. Heather really didn't know how to express her feelings and it kept her isolated from everyone. She hated it. It wasn't fun being closed off to people. She had eventually moved on from the many bridges she had burned. But...she wasn't sure if she would ever get over this one.

What have you done? You pushed away the one person that could ever love you.

She just wanted another chance.

Just one more.
