Sorry I'm late lmao
Brick wasn't a religious person, he'd rather not associate with the whole shtick of the catholic community. Not because they were bad people, by all means some of the nicest people he'd ever met were catholic. It was more of a family issue, only ever comfortable with his extended family. Regardless, he had no choice in believing or not now, well, now that Jackle was here and existing. Being completely honest, Brick liked the company. Moving away from parents at such a young age is never easy, or any age for that matter. He bought a cat to keep himself not too alone went time's got tough, and he never knew his greatest surprise would be in the same package. But regardless of faith, he still loved Christmas. He didn't want to admit it, but deep inside he's a Christmas freak. Brick didn't have much money, but what he did have, was decorations.
Ring~
The school bell rang its sweet tone as people flooded out the door. Christmas break had started and you know what that means. Brick had approximately 3 exams right after, and what they called a break, Brick called it "bullshit." That wouldn't kill his spirit however, he was determined to have a good Christmas. He'd already gave all his gifts for his friends, and he'd already received all his gifts from them. Which he thanked them profusely, as they'd given him basic living commodities. The normal child would be a little disappointed getting silverware or stationery items, but Brick couldn't be anymore grateful. It was Christmas Day, and Brick knew what was to come. Laying face first onto his couch, a soft ping came from his phone. The annual family Christmas party was happening today, and he was less than eager to join. He'd rather go with his friends, but all of them were on vacation to meet family. As most people do around the holidays. Guess he'd stay this Christmas alone, well, "alone." He texted back, saying he had "lots of tests to study for," and, "he wasn't available," and promptly tossed his phone back onto the table.
"Lying is a sin you know," Jackle said smugly hovering above his face.
"Maybe, but I really don't wanna."
"You're deceit is showing."
"Plus, it wasn't even a lie. I have lots of tests to study for," Brick said defensively.
"But are you going to?" Jackle asked, already knowing the answer.
Brick stayed quiet.
"Mhmm, that's what I thought."
"Be quiet won't you? Anyways mr, I am busy. I have decorations to put up."
Brick heaved up from his seat, making his way to the boxes piled next to the couch.
"Decorations?"
Quickly ripping the tape sealant, he hastily removed a strand of lights from a box.
"Oh, Christmas," the demon said flatly.
"What?"
"Oh nothing, I'm just not the biggest fan of Christmas if you know."
Brick glared at him, but continued to line the walls with tinsel. Reaching into the box, he pulled out a stuffed bear, adorned with a small Christmas hat. Catch! Was the last thing Jackle heard as the bear was launched in his direction.
"Even if you're not the biggest fan of Christmas, I know you're a big fan of decorating. So c'mon and help me."
The demon scoffed at him, and placed the toy on the side table. Only to be thrown another item, this being a small wire tree. They got to work. They were 3/4 the way done, and the place was very willingly decorated in lights, small statues and snow-globes. Everything was going great and surprisingly smoothly, until Brick started thinking about gifts. 'Aw it sucks I didn't go to the party. Someone probably would have gotten me like a free shirt or something. I mean it's good cause I didn't get anything. Except for my friends. And-' He froze.
'I DIDN'T GET ANYTHING FOR JACKLE."
Oh no. Oh nonononono. How could he have forgot? How was he supposed to get a gift now? I can't just leave? Right? He scrambled for any idea he could think of, any excuse to leave.
"Hey uh I just remembered I need to meet a coworker for uhm overtime I gotta go."
Brick started hastily rushing to get this belongings to set out. "And leave me with all the work?"
"Yeah yeah uh sorry I just remembered I gotta go like right now. You can finish while I'm gone."
"Fine, you put everything weird anyways."
"And DON'T follow me this time. Uh it's with that coworker you don't like."
"Marina?"
"Yeah-so don't come bye," Brick said frantically and promptly left as soon as he could.
He needed to think. What was Jackle like? What did he like? Think...Well for starters, he liked fashion, but Jackle seemed to take all my clothes anyways. Plaid? No, that just tied in with the whole clothing thing. Cats maybe? Oh but Jackle would smite me before I get him anything cat related. But it would be funny though. He needed to get Jackle something special. Something you couldn't buy from some store. What about some outdoor activity? What about..
