A brief and extremely paraphrased conversation I had with my best friend last week;

Her: You know, there's this Wattpad author who hasn't updated her book in a while.

Me: I heard she died, it's a shame, right?

Her: :|

Me: A chapter will be out before Christmas I'm sure...

So here's a chapter not at all out before Christmas, but it's not 2020 yet! Here is a key for point of view changes.

Y/N = plain text

Jaehyun = bold

Bird Boi = italic

On the way home I wasn't really sure about anything. I'd already cried, processing this was going to take longer than a bus ride, and I don't really think a face mask and cup of tea would help fix this.

I was so lost in my mind I barely recognized that I was in front of my house already, my hand resting on the door knob. I snapped out of it when a large hand grabbed my arm and I heard my name called. I turned quickly to see Jaehyun standing behind me, a bright smile on his face.

"Y/N? I was calling your name." He tilted his head in a questioning manner until he noticed his grip on my arm. "Oh! I'm sorry! Did I hurt you?"

"No, I'm alright." My voice is colder than usual, but I'm a little shocked that he is standing in front of me. Did he see me walk home?

"I didn't run into you on your way to work today."

"I didn't open the store today." I look up at Jaehyun, he's towering over me and my chest begins to tighten... Why am I getting so anxious?

"Why?" His smile has tightened and seems almost forced now. Somewhere within his words is a prickling venom that makes my skin crawl. What is going on? Why is he so concerned, this stranger who I've met once before. The goosebumps on my arms tell me that this interaction should end... Something isn't right.

"Errands. I'm sorry, I really can't talk right now. Goodbye." And before he can say anything I've shut the door. I shiver with unease, that was a bit too personal of an encounter for someone I've only met once.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The door slams in my face, Y/N is gone before I can try to correct the dark aura around us. I didn't mean to overbear the atmosphere with emotion, I scared her off. As I walk away from her house I go to hunt Haechan down for what he's done. What idiot goes around asking people personal information like that? He's going to give himself away one of these days, I swear.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hear his footsteps fade away and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in. Maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe that was a perfectly normal interaction and I'm the one being strange. But I can't forget the strangeness in his voice. The imposing nature of him on my porch and the heavy air it created was too much for the day.

"Y/N."

"AH-" I scream, stopping as soon as I turn around, "Oh, Grandma! You scared me!"

She exits from the kitchen doorway to take a seat on the couch. Her face is soft, she looks like the typical friendly grandma that most families have, though I know it's an expression reserved for post-hospital visits. She pats the space next to her. I'm reluctant to take it... I don't want to do this.
