In the society you grew up in everyone, on their eighteen birthday gets a dot on their hand. Each dot correlates to a different role they'll play in society(idk how else to explain it)
Red🔴- You're going to die
Green🟢- You're going to live
Purple🟣- You have the chance to save someone, then your dot will turn red, or you don't have to, and it'll stay purple, the equivalent of a green
Blue🔵- someone gave you their life
Yellow🟡- You have a twin, you have to decide between the two of you who lives and who dies, after one dies the other's dot will turn a shade of green that's still kind of yellow, as a reminder (one just has to die, even if there's no agreement, anything will work, if there's an agreement the one to live will turn the green color, and the one to die will turn orange)
X- You're to be one of the people who kill those with red dots
The first day of the new year those who who have Red, Orange, or Xs are all taken to be killed, or trained to kill
