"Just stay right here. Please, Clarinda!" The woman, now panicked, coaxed her daughter.
"O-ok.", was the little girl's reply. Flash! In an instant her mother was gone.
The child waited and waited for her mother and father to come out from under the burning debris that was now her home. She dropped to her knees screaming, pleading, "Please, save them!"
They never came. The girl stood mesmerised, watching her childhood slowly crumple into ashes. She suddenly turned around hearing a snap of a twig.
"Mommy?" she questioned.
The girl wiped her tears holding her favourite teddy tightly against her chest. "Daddy?" she asked once more.
She was suddenly grabbed from behind, a strange-smelling cloth was put around her nose and mouth. The little girl struggled to hold on to her last remaining piece of her once peaceful life; her teddy bear dropped to the ground.
