All of us spent the first day in the hospital together. Then later that night, I convinced my family to go back to the house and sleep in proper beds. Shane was a permanent fixture in Ryland's room. While, Andrew and I will leave the hospital to go get change of clothes for ourselves, and Shane. Always returning to spend the nights with him. It was the only way to get Theresa to go back to her own home and my family to Shane and Ryland's house at night. But I like it because it brings me peace to be close to Ryland, physically at least for the moment.
I'm currently out in the hall, calling Jenna Marbles because I'm scheduled to be a guest on her and Julien's podcast this week. "Hello," Jenna answered. "Hi Jenna," I said quietly. "Hey Sophia, what's up girl?" she asked. I sighed, "I hate to do this last minute, and you can hate me forever."
"What's up?"
"I can't be on the podcast this week," I explained. "Why? What happened?" Jenna asked. "You can tell Julien, but this can't become public knowledge," I stated. "Alright." I took a deep breath, "Ryland got into a serious car accident a few days ago. I need to be here, with my family, till he gets better." I wasn't ready to go more into detail of the accident. Jenna gasped on her end, "Oh my gosh. How bad are his injuries?" She took a small pause. "How's Shane doing?"
"Ryland is currently in a coma. It's just a matter of waiting for him to wake up. Shane...is as you can imagine. He's mostly silent," I explained. "I'll call him later. Anyways, as for the podcast, we can have you on at another time when Ryland is better." I smiled, she is a caring person. "Thanks, Jenna. Again, I'm sorry for canceling last minute."
"Don't worry about that. You just focus on your family."
"Okay. I'll talk to you later."
"You better. I love you girl. I hope Ryland wakes up soon." I sighed, "Me too."
"Goodbye."
"Bye, Jenna." We hung you and I went back into the room. Shane was holding Ryland's hand and running his hand through his hair to soothe them both. While Andrew was sat on the couch, watching him. I sat in his lap and wrapped his arms around me. "I love you," he whispered in my ear. "I love you too," I whisper back.Thursday night came around quickly and my parents were trying to convince Andrew and I to go back to the house, for at least one night. "You two have been spending the night here since the accident," my mom chastised us. "You need to spend a night in a bed. The couch can't be comfortable," my dad argued. They had a point, but, "What about you two?"
"We will be fine here for a night," Mom stated. "I would like to be here with him for the night." She looked to Ryland with motherly love and worry. I can understand her now. It's the same reason I've been here every night. "Alright. You're both right. We should spend a night sleeping in an actual bed," Andrew agreed. I nodded in agreement with him, "Yeah. We should." We gathered up our stuff and said our good nights. "Good night, mom and dad," I hugged my parents tight. "Night, baby," Mom whispers. Dad whispered, "Ryland will be fine for one night." I nodded. I went to Ry's sleeping figure. That's what he's doing, just sleeping. A very prolonged sleep. Okay, no. Come back to reality; he's in a coma. I kissed his forehead, "Andrew and I are going to spend a night away but we'll be back before you know. it. Good night." I hugged Shane, tight, "See you tomorrow, Shane."Andrew and I arrive at the house and are promptly informed we won't be sleeping in our typical room, the guest bedroom. Austin and Stacey, who are currently sleeping in there, offered us the master bedroom. Aka Shane and Ryland's room with a couch and television. I will admit, even though we were initially fighting with them on which couple got the bed, Andrew and I caved. I ended up having the best sleep of the week. It was definitely needed for both of us, mainly our backs.
Next morning, we were woken up to a nice surprise. Well more specifically, a knock. "Come in," Andrew called out to them. "Good morning, love birds," Stacey sang as she entered the room with breakfast on a tray. We both quickly sat up. "What's all this?" I asked. "For your fourth anniversary, obviously," she said so casually, "I thought, with the week we've all had, I would something special for you two." Andrew and I looked to each other with shock. "Did you both forget your own anniversary?" We looked to her and nodded in guilt. Stacey laughed at us as we sat on the bed, so embarrassed at ourselves. "Well, enjoy breakfast in bed. Austin, Morgan, and I are heading to the hospital soon." She exited the room leaving us alone. "I can't believe we forgot our own anniversary," I laughed. "Yeah. But considering the crazy week, it's understandable," Andrew reasoned. I nodded. We enjoyed our breakfast of egg whites, bacon and iced coffee from Starbucks. After we finished, I turn to Andrew, "Can we make an...agreement? Just for today, we don't worry about Ryland. No mention of the accident or his condition." He features softened, "Yeah. We can do that." I smile, "Okay. I just want to focus on you and us for today. Tomorrow, we can go back to all that." He nodded, "If that's what you want-"
"It is," I insisted. Andrew came close to my face, "Then we can do that." I smiled and kissed him, "Happy Anniversary, Andrew."
"Happy Anniversary, Sophia."
