Veronica's POV
"Lisa!" I screamed to her as the tree began to snap a lean over towards her. We had just dismounted and I was trying to get her out of the way. "Lisa, move!" I pushed her out the way and tried to dive after her. But it was to late.
Pain shot up my legs like lightening, causing me to not scream, but instead just lie there in shock.
Lisa screamed loudly which just in general made me frustrated and gave me a headache. "Lisa," I yelled to her. "don't just stand there screaming, go get help!" Lisa looked at me like I was crazy. "Veronica, I'm not just gonna leave you here to die," she replied. Could it be true? Could one of the Saddle Club members actually care about me, care about what happens to me?
Lisa called out for anyone who was close but there was no one near. "Lisa you might as well give up there's no one out there," I told her.
Ignoring me she called out again. No answer. "Ugh!" Lisa said as loud as she could. She turned around and began trying to lift the tree off of my legs although she obviously couldn't.
At this point, I was getting quite frustrated. "Lisa, stop." At that she let go and sat down in one movement. She looked at me and cried. "I'm so sorry Veronica. I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm-" "Shut up Lisa!" I screamed at her. That shut her up all right.
The pain in my legs was excruciating now and I was trying to remain calm but in reality, I was about to start screaming and crying myself.
Lisa looked at me. "Veronica, you're so pale." "Yes I know that's why I came to the beach, so I could get a tan and-" "No," she interrupted me "you're as white as a sheet of paper!" Before I could explain my tanning problem, she ran over and started to feel my forehead. "You're as cold as ice!" I was soon alarmed. "Go find help now! If something happens I'll scream as loud as I can. Lisa," I put a hand on her arm. "You can do this. " Lisa nodded and ran off.
I sat there for hours, or at least what felt like hours, and silently begged Lisa to come back. I even said it a few times. My leg was throbbing loudly and often tricked me into thinking the sound were footsteps. But much to my dismay, they weren't.
The world around me became dark and silent, as I drifted into a sleep
