"Have a good day, sweetie."
She ruffled his hair, and he sighed.
"You know that isn't likely."
"Just because you don't like your job doesn't mean you can't have a good day."
"My depressed ass hasn't had a good day in a month."
"C'mon, that's an exaggeration. Last Saturday was nice."
"You're right. I guess."
"Oh, would you look at the time! I gotta go. See ya."

She kissed the top of his head and walked out the door. He sighed again and looked at his unfinished breakfast.
He stood up and dumped the rest into the trash can. He wasn't hungry. He knew Zelda wouldn't like that, but she just left. She couldn't tell him what to do if she wasn't there.

He didn't understand why she'd want to leave so early to work at a fast food restaurant, but she did. She had specifically asked for morning shifts. She wasn't even that much of a morning person.

Maybe it was a distraction. Or a way to force a good sleep schedule onto herself. Hylia knew he didn't have one. He didn't even have a sleep schedule to begin with.

He looked at the time. He'd have to leave soon.

"It's nice of you to take me out to dinner."
"I wouldn't really put it that way."
"Well, by our standards, this is expensive."
"By our standards, everything's expensive."
"20 rupees for a bowl of soup is more expensive than most of what we eat."
"Hey, if I could afford it, I would get you a 40 rupee bowl of soup."
"Aw, Link, that's sweet."

As soon as they got back to the apartment, she went on her laptop. She had a bunch of work to do, and she had barely started any of it.

She was glad that she had chosen mostly online classes.
Link, however, had an equal amount of online and physical. That meant that he was gone a good portion of the time.

She remembered when they first started dating. They were in their senior year of high school. They happened to get into the same college, which was a miracle.
After the first year, they decided to get an apartment together.
And here they were now, living together in that apartment.

Well, they we weren't the only people in the apartment. There were two other people, Sidon and Riju. They weren't together, but Zelda thought they'd be an adorable couple.

She was good friends with Riju, and Link was close to Sidon. Sidon made Link happy, which she loved. He was adorable when he actually enjoyed himself.

She sighed. She should focus on her work. She had a lot left to do.
