☮Garrett Reynolds ☮
Like clockwork I get up at 5:02, shower, get ready, and make breakfast for my dad before he leaves for work. This is the only time I get to see my dad. He works leaves early and stays late. Sometimes it feels as if he's doing it on purpose. After he leaves, I clean up and walk outside my house.
Like any other day, when I step outside, I'm greeting by my three best friends. Riley is the first one to be seen, or more often than not, heard. She's walking in front of Colton, her brother, and Shane. "Hey! Thank god! I need to talk about something other than sports, video games, and girls." She had a bored expression on her face. She's a big believer of feminism. She hates when men are chauvinistic. She feels strongly about stereotypes too. I chuckle and reposition my backpack strap on my shoulder, shaking my head.
"Hey guys" I say and look behind Riley to find Shane and Colton arguing about some video game. I roll my eyes and start to walk beside Riley. "So Riley, my bestest friend, did you finish the math homework?"
"First, bestest isn't a word. Second, now I know why you're failing English. And third, yes. But no, you can't copy it." She replies swiftly.
"Pretty please?" I say.
"No."
"Pretty, pretty please?"
"I don't care how many times you ask or how your pleases look, I said no!"
I decide its time for the big guns. I stop her by standing directly in front of her and look down. I look up through my lashes and give her my best puppy dog face. She just looks at me, her eyes telling me it's not going to work on her.
"Fine, you'll just have to see me fail" I say, crossing my arms and looking down at my feet.
She moves around me. "I'm okay with that." She turns back and smirks at me.
I start to walk beside her again listening to the argument that's still going on behind us. We're almost at school when I ask, "Can I please copy your homework, Riley?" She looks over at me and sighs.
"Fine, but this is the last time." I throw my arm around her shoulders and thank her.
Good job Garrett, good job.

Once we arrive at school we split up. Me and Shane head to our lockers while the twins walk to theirs. I don't understand how their twins. They're complete opposites. Sure, they look exactly alike, but that’s it. Colton is a shy nerd who lets people walk all over him. Riley is an outgoing, smart girl that doesn't take anyone's shit. They're my best friends but still, I wonder.
I'm brought out of my thoughts by my best friend, Shane. Shane has been my best friend since I was first grade. Everybody thinks Shane is some big bad boy who play's with girls heart but not me and my friends. At least not Colton. Shane has gray eyes and platinum hair. Every girl falls at his feet but this is the thing, he has his eyes on one girl: Riley. She has no clue, but I guess we can't all be so oblivious.
"Dude! Get your head out of your ass!" Shane shouts. I look towards him with an annoyed expression and rubbing my ears. "Dude, what are you deaf this morning? I've been talking to you fro 5 straight minutes. What are you thinking about?"
"Oh nothing, so what were you saying?" I ask.
"There's supposed to be a new girl. I think she's in a couple of our classes." He says, a hint of amusement on his face. "Oh cool", I respond weakly, distracted. Down the hallway, I see a group of girls crowding a locker. Well more like a person smashed against the locker. I walk up with a confused Shane trailing behind me. I start to eavesdrop and see that they're talking about the new girl in front of them. I look over at Shane, and nod my head. He walks in the middle and kind of shields the girl, so I can get her out of here. While the girls are distracted, I tap the girl on the shoulder and pull her out. Before I get to ask her anything, she runs off. I stare at the direction she ran off in confusion. I signal Shane he can go and he comes out.
"Thanks dude. I didn’t get to say anything to her. I didn't even see her face." I say.
"I did and dude she's really pretty" We continue to our locker so we aren't late. I grab my things and see the twins walk up towards us. They both greet us and we head to our first period: Biology.
