I Guess That Makes Us A Mystery

Chapter 4

Today's the day Luke and Ivory move in! It's Saturday and I just finished getting dressed. Vans, jeans, long sleeves and a beanie. Sounds about right.

"Hey," I heard from behind me as I saw her reflection in the mirror. "Hi," I smiled. It's Gem. Gem was wearing Converse, a tank top, and some shorts with a bracelet or two. She shoved her hands in her pockets and smiled back, "Someone looks happy," she observed, "Pfft. Me? No. I'm never happy." She laughed.

My phone buzzed, I looked at it, it read:
"Hey, me and Ivory will be there in about 20 minutes. See you l8er. Yes I said "L8er" don't judge me."
I shook my head smirking a bit, "Idiot."

Gem just stared at me staying completely silent as I stared down at my phone then yelled, "Oh my God!"
My heart skipped a beat, "What's wrong!?" "You like him don't you!?" She continued yelling, I just stared, "Like who? I don't like anyone. Look at the time! Luke and Ivory are going to be here soon...I'm just going to--" I collided into the doorway trying to exit my bedroom. "Oh. Um. Yeah, watch out for the door." I then exited.

I pressed my hand to my head, "Can't wait for my bruise there." I said to myself walking downstairs.

 Gem's P.O.V

I shook my head grinning she so likes him I thought. I face planted into Ruby's bed and felt someone sitting on me moments later, "Get off." "Hm? What was that? Hello? I don't see anyone." Justin. "I mean it, you better get off or I will make you pay." "Sounds...Menacing." He got off then helped me up. "Can I have a piggy back ride downstairs? I'm too lazy to go myself." He chuckled, "No." Then quickly walked out of the room then down the stairs. I began to walk out too until I heard something hit against the window which caused me to run into the doorway just like Ruby did. "Ouch." I mumbled. I then walked over to the window, open the curtains, but saw nothing. "Okay?" I heard a phone buzz, it was Justin's, probably fell out of one of his pockets while he jumped off of me. 

"Baby, I miss you..." Was part of the text the rest was about him and it was about 4 paragraphs long.

Missed: 5 Phone calls

Voicemails: 3        

I stared at the phone confused and lost in thought when Justin walked back in the room. "Hey Luke and--" He knew something was wrong. He walked over to me and took his phone, he looked at the message. I couldn't help but stare at him hurt. Slow tears started streaming down my face. "How could you?" was all I asked.

He looked at me surprised. "No. Gem I--" I shook my head, "No, I don't want to hear it. We are mates. We're made for each other and I don't get that you can't be grateful that we found each other some wolves die lonely, cold, alone totally clueless to what love is. I've watched movies, and read books where.." I stuttered. "Where. The wolves or the people meet, fall in love and stay in love. Those stories and movies make people like me go blind to reality and to people like you...Just." I took a breath with tears still streaming down my face, "Just leave me alone, Justin." I walked out of the room and his voice trailed behind me sounding weak, "Gem, please." 

I walked into my room and locked the door I slid my back down a wall and cried into my hands. My wolf was in a lot of pain. She kept howling, and whimpering. I got up, walked downstairs where everyone was met to greet Luke and Ivory. 

"Hey Gem," Ruby said. I kept my head down. "What's wrong?" She asked. "Nothing...I just need a little air. I'll be back later." She looked around at everyone that was staring at me like I was insane and just murdered 3 people. "Um. We'll be right back." She grabbed my arm and took me outside, "I want to know what's going on, what happened, who did this to you, and I want to know right now, Gem."

She crossed her arms and looked at me. I kept my head down then looked at her. I took a took a breath, "Justin. He got a message that was paragraphs long from a girl talking about how much she loves him..She called him 5 times and left him 3 voicemails."

She hugged me tight. "Gem, I'm going to tell you one thing...Boys are stupid." She looked me dead in the eyes, "Look, he wouldn't cheat on you and I know Justin, I know he would never do anything to hurt you. Just please go talk to him." I shook my head, "I just don't want to hear it Ruby. I trusted him so much. He let me down."
