*NOT EDITED*
I sit comfortably the on the Hemming's couch with Calum waiting for the boys to get pizza. "Are you okay with Ashton as a new member?" Calum asked. Ashton just joined our band. The five of us sounded great. I was really unsure about Ashton, I wasn't fond of him like the other boys.
"Yeah, he's okay." I respond. I realized I was taking too long to respond so he was looking at me skeptically. He sighs.
"Are you sure?" He says softly. I nod.
Calum starts to speak but loud noises fill the room as the door opens. The boys come in with the pizza and I get up to help. We devour the pizza before practicing. I'm in black ripped shorts and a Grateful Dead shirt. Clearly, I'm not a girly girl and I get crap for it all the time. I grab the last piece and smash it into my face before the boys can take it. "Lovely," Ashton says. I roll my eyes and almost flip him off but Calum grabs my hand ahead. He has known me the longest and he is always one step ahead. We've all been best friends for a long time and let's just say some rocks in the road made me have trust issues. Calum and the other boys knew, they were very cautious about choosing a drummer. They thought Ashton was the best option but Ashton and I have some history that can't erase from my mind.
I walk outside glad I'm alone. "Do you need a ride home?" I think of a snarky comment but Luke's voice floods my brain "You're the lead singer, make good choices for the band."
I sigh, "No, I can walk."
He shakes his head,"Not in this weather." Its raining pretty hard but I don't want to be in a small space with the devil (Ash). I know he isn't going to give this up so I unwillingly walk to his car and hum along to the quiet music playing through the headphones. Once we reach my extravagant house I get out and run to the door, trying not to get soaked. My parents are gone (of course) so I snag an apple before heading upstairs and watching TV in my room.
My family is rich, very rich. My brother hates being rich, like me, but my older sister loves it. The dresses, the events, she lives for it. We haven't spoken since she moved to America. My parents are never home, Piper (my sister) like I said, is in America, and my brother (who is also my twin) ran away six months ago and I haven't heard from him since. We were really close when we were little.
I walk to my closet, something catching my eye. It was a note. It reads:
Amelia, there is a black tie event on Friday. Please buy something nice and act normal this time. Bring Luke if you need. Actually, bring him no matter what.
-Mum 8/23/10I roll my eyes at the act normal part. She knows I can't pretend to be a normal, polite, rich kid to save my life. Last time, I brought Luke because his Mum was out of town and I let him stay for a little. He went to the event and acted professional and rich. My parents loved him and always want him to be at the house, not Calum. Calum's Mum and mine (in simplest terms) want to rip the guts out of each other. Calum and I laugh about it all the time.
I call Luke about a half hour later. When he picks up I hear FIFA in the back. I quietly laugh to myself. "Yes?" He sassily says. I go "You're coming with me to Friday's event, look nice." He laughs before hanging up and going back to FIFA.
I go into Piper's room taking one of the many dresses she left behind, along with some shoes. I lay it on the floor of my room, it fully covering the black shag rug. I check the time. 11:30pm. I jump to my bed forgetting all about my homework. School isn't my first priority right now.
