She still hadn't woken up, so I sent Jesse home early this morning to shower and get something to eat. When he comes back I'll leave to go do the afternoon shift, probably shouldn't since I really didn't sleep. But there's things I have to do, I can't not go to work. I have no reason not to go, she's not my family, not my partner or anything. I sighed, rubbing circles on her hand, hoping she will wake up soon. Wishful thinking, but who knows maybe she'll wake up soon.
Jesse came back into the room looking a tad better, I headed out. Not before telling him I had the afternoon shift and would be back tomorrow morning. I walked to my car, rubbed my face before I got into the drivers side. I headed home to shower and get ready before having to go down to the beach.
Reaching home, I took a quick shower and jogged to the beach. I needed the exercise to help me clear my head before I clocked in. Clocking in I went to Harrison who I was taking over for. He stopped me before he walked to the locker rooms.
"How's she doing?" He asked.
" Nothing new yet," I tell him with a sad smile, before saying goodbye and going to my post.
I head down to the flags at backpackers. I was with Hoppo today, he was supposed to be off today but he was filling in for Jesse. I tap him on the shoulder as I slide in next to him on the rhino.
"Hey mate, how has today been?" I ask.
"Not terrible, but it's supposed to get hot here in a couple hours, so I suspect we'll get busy soon," He says before using the intercom to tell some swimmers to swim between the lines.

Sure enough as soon as the temperature increased the population on the beach did too. It was only a quarter after four and I have probably done about 50-100 rescues already. At least with a busy day, I didn't have time to think about what was going on at the hospital. I would call Jesse when I got off to see if there were any changes, I doubt there would have been but still. I spent the rest of the day doing rescues, telling people to stay between the flags and even tackling a thief. Finally being off, I head to the locker rooms to take a shower before I head home.
I get out of the shower, dress quickly and call Jesse.
"Hey mate," He says when he answers.
"Hey any news?" I asked him as I started walking to my apartment.
"Nope, we had some movements today, but the doctor said it was normal," Jesse told me.
"Alright mate, I'm going home and eating. Need me to bring anything to you?" I ask juggling my phone to the other ear.
"No, Tullie is going to bring me some food, and visit for a bit. Then we're going home, and I'll be back tomorrow afternoon at work. The team will call me if there's any news. You still going up in the morning?" He tells me.
"Yeah, I am. I'll let you know any updates mate," I said before we hung up.
I finally make it back to my apartment, and heat up some leftovers before going to the living room and watching tv. Hopefully there will be some news tomorrow.
