it was always him. it was always ethan. no matter how many times you would argue. no matter how many nights he left mumbling a remark before slamming the door to your shared apartment and not speaking to you till the next morning, leaving you worried and scared about the outcome of his outburst. this is what you guys did. you argue and make up. it was unhealthy but you both also knew you couldnt live without eachother.
most of your huge fights erupted from little things building up. ethan was never one to apologize first, waiting till you got over yourself and initiated it. always. knowing that, he uses it to his advantage. his arrogance in what seemed like every argument you had with eachother, only made things worse.
despite this being something that happened more often than it should, this time just felt different. so there you were the next night, lying in your bed with nothing to be heard besides the ceiling fan, your quiet but heavy sobs, and harry styles 'fine line' on repeat adding to the anxiety and sadness of all the thoughts running through your mind. although you refused to admit it, you needed ethan. yeah he was an ass at times but he's your safe place. you couldn't help but replay the fight you and ethan shared over and over again, coming up with scenarios wondering what could have been said or done to change the outcome.
"you know what ethan? fuck you."
ethan slightly tilted his head at you with an arrogant smirk on his face "watch your mouth"
scoffing at his smart remake, you gathered as much of his clothes you could fit in your arms, shoving them in his hands "get out. go to graysons for the night, anywhere but here. im used to it by now"
he obviously doesnt care so why should you?
ethan takes a step toward you, gently taking a hold of your wrist. you jerked away turning around so you wouldn't have the chance to look into those eyes of his that you loved so much and cave.
he watches you intently waiting for you to change your mind and tell him to stay, but you didnt. "fine. if thats what you want"
on the verge of tears you turn watching him make his way to the front door "it is. come back when you decide to be a good boyfriend""you dont meant that" he said finally realizing the depth of the situation.
and you didnt. you didnt mean it. you knew it hurt him but you needed him to understand what you were feeling.
" i do.now get out." you said a last time before hearing the loud slam of the door.
of course, you blame yourself. you told him to leave so what were you to expect of him. your breathing picked up and so did your sobs that were once quiet.
the sound of your front door unlocking and keys jangling echoed through the quiet apartment.perfect timing you thought to yourself. you knew who it was and frankly, you didn't want him to see you like this and you also weren't ready for another argument to erupt.
getting up out of your bed you stood still in the middle of the room anxiously waiting till the footsteps of your boyfriend got more evident. turning off the music, taking a couple deep breaths, and wiping your tears you prepared yourself for an upset ethan waiting for an apology like usual.
"what are you doing here" you questioned as ethan walked in making his way to stop in the doorway of the bedroom you both shared.
