That Friday, about half the school was dressed up in costumes in some form. One of the pros of going to your average-Joe suburban school; we seem to be the only schools that still dress up. Emily and I decided not to dress up in anyway because we'd be in (uncomfortable) costumes for most of the night. Caleb decided to not even show up because he said it was a waste of time, which was partially true. Most teachers never bothered to try anything of importance on any sort of day that had any minimal distraction.
Emily and I walk into Mr. Henti's classroom at the beginning of 7th hour to fine a half sheet of paper and some candy on every desk.
"Alright everyone, I know with it being close to the end of the day, and Friday and Halloween, I'm not going to get any teaching in." He walks from one side of the board to the other. "So we're going to do another little anonymous survey," He says referring to a family survey we took on Wednesday. "Only this one's about Halloween parties." A few boys in the front of the class make weird laughing noise to which Henti ignores. "Don't worry about the importance of your answers right now. We'll analyze and explain after you're all done."
He looks up to all of us rolling up one of his sleeves. "Everyone good?" We all nod, as we look at the half sheet of paper. I grab my pencil to begin. It reads:
Halloween Party Analysis: How do romantic relationships effect marriage in the long run?
REMEMBER these surveys are anonymous. Please do NOT add your name, and if you feel uncomfortable answer a question, please do not answer it.
Part one: basic questions?
1. If you are dressing up would you describe your costume as:
A. Scary B. Funny C. Lazy D. Adult (aka wouldn't wear it to a kids party)
I read the question rolling my eyes at Emily's success of dragging me into the sexy category and circle the last option.
2. If you are attending a party tonight, how late do you plan on staying?
A. 10pm B. 12 am C. 2am D. Whenever it ends E.Staying the night
I look at the question thinking to myself as I grab a skittle from the candy on my desk. I initially want to circle either A or B, but end up circling D since I'm driving Emily home and I'll stay til she wants to leave.
Circle one: High-school party - College Party - Other
I circle college and move on.
3. If there's alcohol at said party, would you drink?
A. No B. Yes C. Just a little D. Depends
I instantly circle A because I know with volleyball we aren't allowed to drink, and if we get caught then we are off the team.
Part 2: More serious/relationship questions (remember you don't have to answer)
1. If you are going to a party, are you going "with" anyone?
A. Yes B. No C. Kinda
I laugh silently to myself to my lack of love life and circle no.
2. If you ran into a friend at said party and started making physical advances, what would you do?
A. Say no and leave B. "Advance back" C. Not sure/Depends
