Be My Forever
Chapter 3

Khushi arrived at the resort a little later than expected owing to delay in the flight's departure time. She checked in and had a quick lunch while having a business talk with the Manager of the resort. After a quick nap in the afternoon, she decided to have a walk by the beach. Her meeting with Vikas Arora was scheduled half an hour later.

Khushi sat smiling to herself as she noticed a young couple having a nice time a little distance away from her. They seemed to be in their twenties or perhaps a year less or more. The girl was short, had jet black hair and had cute dimples when she smiled. She was trying to build a sandcastle and the guy was bent upon spoiling things for her. Time was lost track of. Khushi was simply watching the couple. The girl was blushing and scolding the guy but not getting angry at him at all. How her heart ached to have something like that for someone! She already had that picture of someone in her head.

"Arnav!" She squealed as she was surprised with a kiss on her cheek. After the unforeseen confession things had started changing. There was more teasing, more small talks to simply spend time with each other, more smiles. Apart from that there were cheek kisses. Sometimes forehead ones too. However, they maintained the same old cordial relationship before others. Khushi however suspected Anjali knew. She found opportunities to tease her with Arnav. Khushi would simply roll her eyes and brush it off.

"Someone will see." She spoke trying to push his hand off her shoulder. "Really? Fine let them. I don't care." Saying that he pressed his cheek against hers swaying with her and then kissed her forehead. "How was your day?" He asked moving away from the chair she was seated on to his cupboard. "Same old boring." Khushi answered bringing out her test copy from her bag.

He turned and glanced at her. Seeing her eyes fixed on something his gaze drifted down to her hands. Looked like she got her test paper. Her skeptic silence meant bad performance. This made him feel guilty. He felt like he was distracting her instead of helping her. He placed his tshirt on the bed and walked up to the table. Leaning forward he took the test copy from her hand. There- his fear just came true. Khushi sat still, slightly fearing his reaction. She knew he hated when his efforts were not paid off. She also knew that he had been genuinely putting a lot of efforts to help her through. Honestly, Khushi regretted even pursuing the subject. She should have taken up he other options. This was so not her cup of tea.

"Why are you silent? Are you mad at me? I am sorry. But the paper was hard." Khushi spoke fidgeting with her book's cover.

"Khushi, I think..you should take up some coaching classes. I will find you some good coaching teacher." He placed the paper back on the desk and began walking away.

"No. I am not going to that." Khushi spoke rising from the chair following his trail. "I promise next time I will do better. I know my performance is disappointing after all the efforts you put. I promise I will do better in the next test."

Arnav turned exhaling sharply. "Khushi, it won't work. I am your distraction. I can't teach you. This is why I didn't want you to know I like you. It complicates stuff." He sighed looking away momentarily. "Khushi, your career is important. You need to do well now so that you find yourself a promising career. And..I am sorry. I shouldn't have.."

Khushi hugged him and the flow of his words broke. He looked down at her and gently placed her hands. "You okay?"
