-Heather Duke POV-
After lunch, we retreated back to the bathroom so the mythic bitch could "fix" the makeup that was "ruined" by the minimal amount of food she ate. McNamera was talking to Veronica again, this time about the weird animals she saw on the nature channel. Now was the time to talk to Chandler.
"So about the party tonight," I said to the girl in red.
She turned to me with an icy stare. "What about it?" she hissed.
"An event came up for my parents, and I have to go to it. I can't get out of it."
"So you aren't coming?" She turned back to the mirror. She seemed unfazed, which hurt a hell of a lot more than her being angry. "Shame. You'll have to make up for this, you know."
"Yes, I know." Making up for things usually meant being assigned to keeping the football-airheads entertained. Not exactly fun, but it's worth the night off this time. I need to... think about things.

"Hi, mom," I grumbled.
She let go and held my face. "Have you been using that acne cream I gave you? It's essential for my daughter to not look like a toad going to school."
"Yes, mom," I say, managing to wriggle out from her grip.
She walked back to the table to pick up her purse. "You know how important it is that you make a good impression. How you look effects us!" She pulls out a mirror and holds it up to her face. After examining herself, she looks to my father. "How do I look, honey?"
My father looks up from his newspaper, disinterested. "Fine, darling." He glances and me and gets up. "We better be going."
They say their goodbyes and I watch the car leave the driveway. The silence becomes deafening as I'm left in this unnecessarily large house, alone.
All alone...
