Pup [Hana]

(A/n This is basically a prologue.)
"Kaa-san, Kiba? I need to talk to you." I smile sheepishly. One of my ninken, Okamimaru, rubs against my leg.

"What is it, Hana?" Mom asks.

"During the war, I went on a mission with someone, and we slept together. I'm pregnant, Mom." She doesn't look surprised .

"I know." She taps her nose. " Your scent changed. "

Kiba nods. "I'm not stupid. I've smelled pregnant women before."

Mom grins. "You sure about that first bit, pup?" She grabs Kiba and tussles his hair.

"Mom! " He groans. I smile.

"So, who's the dad?"

"Otouto, don't get weird, okay? " I ask.

"Okay?"

I take a deep breath and let it out. "Shikamaru Nara."

"What?" Kiba looks incredulous. " Lazy Shika knocked you up? Oh, I am having a talk with him! "

Kaa-san chuckles. "So, a Nara finally has balls." She looks a bit depressed for a split second.  "He's Shikaku's son, right? The one doing the strategy after he died?"

I nod.

"It could have been worse, I suppose. Unless you give up being Heir, you'll have to raise the pup alone. Kiba, you think you could handle it?" Mom says, grinning again.

"If Naruto's gonna be Hokage, I can be Clan Head to support him!" I smile, petting Gurēmaru.

"Thanks, aniki."

Shiromaru wags his tail. "I wonder if it's a girl or a boy?"

I look down at my stomach, my hand having unconsciously drifted there. "Will you give them a ninken, Mom?"

"If it's your kid, I'm gonna have to. You are my daughter, after all. As the daughter of the Inuzuka Head Family, the bloodline will be strong in your child. I just hope that the Nara bloodline won't conflict with ours." She says.

Kiba gets up. "I'm gonna go have a talk with Shikamaru."

"Wait! " I reach out. Kiba looks at me. "I'd like to tell him."

"You mean he doesn't know?" I nod and he sweatdrops, slumping. " Fine. Just tell him soon, okay? Otherwise, Temari-chan may... Do something."

"Got it. I'll head off now, then. Don't give Akamaru any more food pills!" I open the door and leap up on the rooftops, heading to the Nara Compound.

Soon, I arrive at the gates.

"Why are you here, Inuzuka-sama?" A guard asks.
 
"I need to speak with Shikamaru Nara." I say.

He nods and opens the gates. "He's inside the office." I step in and go to the large house, taking my shoes off at the entrance. I navigate my way through and arrive at a room. I knock.

"Come in." I step in. Shikamaru looks up and his eyes widen. "Hana-chan?"

"I'm sorry, Shikamaru. "

"Then...."

"Yes. It is against the Inuzuka to terminate pups. "

"I would never!"

"I know. " I rest my hand on my still-flat stomach. "Still. What will you do now?"

"Either marry you or visit you regularly, depending upon you choice."

"I don't want to be a distant mother. I will give the post to my aniki. "

He adopts his thinking pose. "I see. Does your family know? " I nod. "My friends?" I shake my head. "How about we invite everyone important to us to a party and tell them there?"
