I stood by the windows of the house I was staying in with Rhodey. It was quiet, with only the sounds of rain outside. My arms were wrapped around myself but I wasn't worried or tired. Just content with the life I had created for myself.

The sound of Rhodey's braces and his reflection in the window signaled his approach. He came to stand beside me and wrapped an arm around my waist. I smiled a little, shifting to lean against him.

"I love you, Charlie," Rhodey said.

Smiling wider, I looked at him. "I know. It's been proven to me multiple times."

Rhodey's arm moved up to squeeze my shoulder. "Yes, it has. Are you tired from the trip here?"

I shook my head, returning my gaze to the windows. "Not at all. I've been awake for far longer. Besides, I like the view. It isn't too bad."

"I like it too."

I grinned like a Cheshire cat, shaking my head as I rolled my eyes. "If you're looking at me, I swear I'm divorcing you."

Rhodey pulled me into his chest. "I would never do such a thing. Besides, a little cheesiness isn't too bad, now is it? I know you secretly like it."

I laughed, clutching onto his shirt. "It's classified, by the way, so don't bother asking. Did you like the wedding?"

Rhodey looked into my eyes. "Yes, very much. You looked like a queen in the dress you wore. It looked as natural as Tony in his suit."

I blushed, giggling. "Thank you. I still have it and a few other dresses similar to it to wear to fancier events. After all, I am the wife of a full bird colonel now. I have to look the part now. Or all the other wives won't think I'm one of them."

"You'll never be one of them because you are too unique," Rhodey assured. "You are beautiful, witty, strong, independent. I love you."

I smiled, brushing the side of his face. "It was no mistake meeting you or falling in love with you. Many mistakes did lead up to that but I do enjoy being with you. A lot."

"What mistakes?"

I tilted my head to the side. "Natasha telling you about my feelings, sleeping with you the first time. I thought you hated me because the first time we slept together, we were only a few dates in and you left before I woke up. I hated myself for letting myself think you would like someone so much younger than you. But you do. And I'm glad for that. Because I have a dashing and handsome full bird colonel as my husband and I can go to a lot of different fancy parties. I have to bring out those new party dresses someday, right?"

Rhodey shook his head, laughing. "I guess but loving you was not a mistake and it never will."

With nothing else to say, I kissed Rhodey. He kissed me back, gently rubbing my back. The man in my arms was the man I was meant to be with and I couldn't believe I had gotten him when I did.

Rhodey pulled away. "I saw a few food trucks when we came into town. Do you want to do some reminiscing on our first date and go there?"

I grinned, nodding. "Yeah, sure."

We left the rental house and went to the food trucks. When we got our food, we sat in a nearby park under the shade of a tree. While we ate, we talked about a variety of things, such as our future and what we were going to do. I couldn't wait for that part of our marriage. Looking over at Rhodey as he talked about the Air Force, I smiled. That was my husband and the love of my life. If it weren't for Natasha, I probably wouldn't have started dating him and though my feelings on Natasha were strained, I silently thanked her. She was a deciding factor in my relationship and I knew if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have Rhodey in the same way that I did.

I kissed Rhodey's cheek, silencing him. "I love you a lot."

Rhodey smiled at me. "I love you too."
