When I opened my eyes, everything was blurry and white. But when my eyes focused again, I realized I was just staring at the ceiling of a tent. It was indeed blurry looking and white.
"Yo, bastard, can you hear me?" a familiar voice called out from beside me. I cocked my head towards the speaker and no surprise, it was Rumble.
"Yeah, curse you man..." I groaned as I tried stretching out my body and realized I could move my legs.
Where is Kuro?...
In the dimly lit tent of just the two of us, a grin formed on Rumble's face, and it soon exploded into a chuckle. And for some reason, I found myself chuckling alongside with him.
"Alright brat, I gotta go tell Isa. She's furious as hell!"
"Really?..." my heart skipped a beat.
"Nah, I don't know. But she sure is stressed as hell. Ever since we regrouped and found you were missing, she hasn't slept."
"So...how many days was that?"
"3. And I can sure as hell tell you, she put a hell amount of work into those searches, and also a hell amount of coffees." Rumble shook his head, as all of a sudden he pulled up right beside me and whispered:
"Anyways, she ordered us to put you in a separate tent so she could speak to you privately..."
"Sergeant Rumble." A voice snapped from outside the tent.
Rumble shot up from his chair as Isa entered and saluted without even turning. "Yes sir!" he said with a fearful expression.
"Face your superiors when they are talking. But I will overlook this time, you are to see other duties now." Isa folded arms across her chest.
"Yes sir! But what duties..." Rumble's voice trailed off as he slowly turned to face Isa, who shot him a look. Next thing I knew, Rumble disappeared from the tent.
"Fresh meat." Isa turned on me, marching towards my bed.
"Yee-ess?" I stuttered in a panic.
Isa was in arm's reach of me, then without any warning she reached an arm towards me.Ahhh!!!
I shut my eyes in fear and waited for the end to come. I felt a physical touch and I knew that I was going to die, or at least feel a lot of pain. But instead of the death choke I expected, I felt warmth. I opened my eyes, and expecting there to be a puddle of blood around me at least, but it was the opposite.
Isa... Isa is hugging me.
It made absolute no sense to me whatsoever, and it seemed to me that my day of insanity has finally arrived.
"Don't die." She whispered.
It felt so surreal for a moment, even when she let go from the embrace, I was laying there stunned trying to make sense of everything.
Is this a dream? No, it's too good to even be a dream...
This isn't the real Isa, this must be her good twin or something.
The more I tried to come up with a reasonable explanation, the more lost I became. In other words, absolutely dumbstruck.
"Fresh meat. I need to ask you a few questions." Isa said as she took the seat beside my bed.
"Yes sir." I responded automatically.
"For the past 3 days, where have you been?" her eyes seemed to sharpen.
