Cute little padded footsteps ring around the hallway as I wander back towards the window, and they remind me of a young child creeping down the stairs excitedly on Christmas. I'm out of the window without really thinking about it, and I pull down the latch from outside so it closes behind me. It's rather loud, but the roar of the fire seems louder to me. Whether it actually is, or it's because I'm aware of the fire, I guess I'll never know. The air is warmer now and the sun is coming up quietly on the horizon. People will be waking for their jobs and school soon. Their normal, everyday activities. The fire will be reported soon too, and I need to get my act sorted before that happens. Let's hope it's good enough to win an Oscar.
