The microphone gripped tight in my hand, my hand as shaky as a brittle leaf in the fresh beginnings of what was soon to be winter, shaken in the breeze. My eyes remained glued on my idol, Miss Demi Lovato. Nevermind the thousands that sat behind them, listening to us, maybe even cheering for us. My real nerves were activated because of Demi. She smiled at me, her eyes wide and sparkling with anticipation. I sang my last note, holding it strong, wavering it with a suttle vibrato, making sure I didn't overdo it. I watched as Demi's face dropped, and she along with all other judges but Simon, stood clapping for me and Bailey. I looked at Bailey, my best friend. A smile lingered on both of our faces, we could tell these judges were pretty impressed.
See, right now, me and my best friend Bailey were on stage, in front of the judges, audition for the xfactor. We had wanted to for a while, but we were too scared, mostly me. Now we had finally summed up enough courage and went for it, ready for anything. We practiced for months on end, month after month working our vocals, trying to pick songs. It was a long, tiring proccess. Now, it all came up to this. We were ready, we were prepared. We were nervous, only because we wanted to blow the judges away. We felt we had done just that.
"Wow, you guys are amazing!" Demi cheered, still clapping. "Thank you!" I squeaked into the microphone, my stomach churning with prancing butterflies. Next, L.A. Reid.
"Yo, you guys are great! Bailey, you are great with the harmonies and Jamie you did great with the vibrato at the end, you gave me goosebumps!" He exclaimed, Brittney nodded and mumbled a few words of "wow!" and such. Now, Simon. My eyes turned to him, hopefully dashing with plead to show him how bad I wanted this. I stood infront of Uncle Simon, the one who formed my favorite band, One Direction. Who gave them a second chance, which was a smart idea. "Uncle Simon?" Bailey asked, and the audience, as well as I, chimed in laughter.
"Well.." Simon started, looking at us. "You two are absolutely stunning. Your voices are perfect, your personalities, even better. You could be the next big thing." My heart burst out of my chest, pumping loudly like a drum beat. I threw one of my fists in the air, as the audience cheered. "Demi?" Simon asked.
"Yes."
"Yes," L.A. huffed.
"Of course, girls!" Brittney sing-sang.
"It's all on you now, Simon." Demi teased, sticking out her tongue, which caused Simon to roll his eyes.
"Well girls, you need a little work. But.." My heart dropped. Don't say no. Don't say no. Do. Not. Say. No.
"Yes."
I ran to Bailey, almost knocking her over as I embraced her in a big hug. Warm, happy tears streamed down my face. "Thank you, thank you thank you thank you!" I squealed into the microphone, they all nodded and smiled.
This was it, I thought. Now me and Bailey would be on our way to bootcamp, one step closer to making it.
Question is, who was going to be our mentor?
