My foot gently pat the floor, lifted up, then fell back down, repeating itself with a rhythmic pattern. I was nervous, it was obvious with my ever-present frown. I exhaled a large, elongated sigh, looking over at Bailey. "Bai, we have to figure out a song to wow the judges with for boot-camp. If we at least don't make it to the judge's house I don't know what I'm going to do with myself! I'll probably buy cats and die lonely!" I whined. Okay, Maybe I was being a LITTLE dramatic, but it was true! All my life, all I have ever wanted to do was sing, make a name for myself. The xfactor was probably my one and only shot.
Bailey lightly rolled her eyes. "Why don't we try an Ed Sheeran song? We did an edgy Cher Lloyd song, and they liked it. Why don't we surprise them with Ed? He has slow, meaningful songs and we'll get to show our softer sides." I paused for a second, taking in Baileys suggestion. That actually really wasn't a bad idea. I got off of my bed and stretched myself, looking around our room. "These rooms are nice, especially since it's only boot-camp! Imagine the contestants houses..." I dazed off, dreaming off the luxury we would inherit. "That is, IF we make it there!" Bailey interrupted my thoughts, making me huff. Ever so quickly, I changed the subject to keep myself from getting possibly upset. "Why not.. The A Team? It's a very popular song and very.. pretty." Bailey nodded, a smile wrapping her facial features, warmth in her eyes. "Do you want to start the song?" I asked her, and she shook her head, throwing her hands around. "Oh no! No no no! You ALWAYS start the song, I'm too nervous to start first, I always mess up! Besides, you're the First Verse Woman! You resemble Mr. Payne greatly." She leaned forward and cheaply winked at me, causing me to laugh.
"Bailey, we think about One Direction too much. It's kinda sad." We laughed, knowing it was true. The reason why Bailey and I had become such great friends was in fact because of One Direction! It was a quite interesting story, actually.. That's for another time though. I shoved all thoughts aside except for the song. "Alright. I'll start."
I shuffled in front of my bed, setting my feet shoulder length apart. I had my knees slightly bent, my chest up, shoulders back and head lifted. My music teacher back in freshman year taught me this perfect singers posture, I almost always followed this, it was proper singing etiquite, after all. Behind me, Bailey started gently strumming what I could roughly make out as Ed's opening to the song. A smile danced upon my features as I started to sing;
White lips, pale face.
Breathing in snowflakes.
Burnt lungs, sour taste...
Light's gone, day's end.
Struggling to pay rent
Long nights, strange men.
By now, Bailey had joined in to harmonize with me on the chorus. My, she had a beautiful voice. I myself didn't believe I had such a great voice, but all my life that was all I heard, that I was talented, that I was going places, blahblahblah. I didn't believe it, quite honestly. I felt lied to.. Everyone was wasting their breath. Bailey was such a good harmonizer! Together nothing could stop us, nothing!

We finished the song, with me singing out the last words, "or angels to die" by singing a great vibrato, fading into a slow hum. That was my signature thing, it was almost created a jazz-touch to the ending ambiance. I smiled, looking at Bailey. We are definitely getting through! Just then, a thunderous clapping of hands roared over the silence that had just held us. I turned quickly to look at the door, my eyes falling over a petite frame. She had beautifully curled blonde hair, with what I believed was synthetic blue and pink streaks. She was tiny, not only height wise, but also weight wise. This girl looked less than 80 pounds! Bangs hovered over her forehead, just above her sparkling eyes. Her mouth hung open slightly. "You guys are amazing!" She gawked, her eyes flamed with bewonderment. "I have some serious competition," Those words were muttered, almost muted. I think she was talking to herself. The girl just stood there, looking at us, as if she waited for us to answer.
