Every muscle on Ivory screamed in pain when the darkness began to disappear.
The lab was demolished as flames ate away at everything and anything it could reach with its claws.
Ivory placed a hand on her head in pain, pausing only a moment once her hand made contact.
Fuzz..? No no.. merely dust..
She refused to looked at the wounds that she knew were there,
Not until I feel safe..
Ivory tried to stand up but, quickly lost balance and was forced to catch herself with her...
PAWS!?!
She stared at the small paw that had once been a hand moments before and began to look over herself, only finding a calico pelt where skin and hair originally sat.
Confusion and fear caused the new fur along her spine to stand on end as she looked around frantically for an explanation for her human body's sudden disappearance.
The rubble and metal fragments that littered the concrete floor gave Ivory a headache when she remembered the explosion.
The sight of a bird flying across the dirty window struck Ivory.
Realization drifted across her mind that stopped every other train of thought.
She could escape.
Ivory bolted as fast as her new four legs could carry here to the metal door that stood in the way of sweet freedom from the lab. If she could just reach it..
Hopping with injuries wasn't her smartest idea and certainly wasn't helping the situation as her body demanded for Ivory to stop.
With one last leap of faith she latched the handle between her paws.
Yes!!..... Now how do I open the door...?
Ivory's question was answered as the door began to open from a force on the other side.
Another person in a labcoat had pushed through the rubble that barricaded the iron door and ran in.
Ivory didn't stop to examine or listen to this new person's gibberish as she let herself drop from the handle and bolt into the rest of the building.
She ran through the strange new maze of rooms and halls, desperately looking for an answer to the new predicament.
How to escape.
She ran by more people and rooms, their distorted voices yelling after her. Ivory pushed through her screaming lung's protests, that was until a pair of hands grabbed the scruff of the cat form she was stuck in.
Panic flooded in as the pair of gloved hands lifted Ivory to a women's face as their green eyes examined her.
Ivory couldn't explain what had made several mini daggers for claws lash out towards the women, but she didn't care now as the women released her with a cry of shock.
Taking her chance to escape the grasp of nearby hands, she looked around for a sign of an exit.
A bright light caught her gaze as two doors opened and closed, showing what lay beyond their cold metal walls.
Freedom!
Ivory had only seen these doors once when she was being brought in as a young girl, but she never thought she'd see them again.
She ran forward, praying they would open again letting her free.
A man pushed them open, only to be stopped by several yelling inventors behind Ivory. It was all in vain as Ivory burst into the cold air of the outside and ran beside the silver object near an alley she had seen from her window several times.
Breathing hard and feeling as though she were about to die from lack of air, she lay down to take in the crisp air that filled her lungs better than the dusty and smoke filled air had.
The new sights and feelings were nothing compared to the new fear that rose inside her.
I'm.. Outside.
