He strutted up to buckbeak and taunted him.
Buckbeak was about to attack him when you walked up and pulled Draco back.

Draco cut himself off when he saw you following the exact instructions Hagrid gave Harry then softly petting Buckbeak's beak.
You stepped back, not wanting to ride Buckbeak then looked to Draco.
