"yes! exams are finally over!" taeyong exclaimed to sicheng, doyoung, and guanheng after they met at the courtyard. all of their exams have finally finished and it was now semester break for the students of sm high.
"what are you guys doing over the break?" sicheng asked his three friends as they munched on snacks from the vending machine and drank soda that guanheng bought for them from the cafeteria.
"i'm going to play video games with yangyang, dejun, and lucas and hopefully not get yelled at by kun ge," guanheng said as he took a sip from his drink he bought for himself.
"i'm just going to... i don't know... sleep?" doyoung said, taking a chip into his mouth and drinking his soda right after, causing him to choke.
"i'm going to visit my mom in incheon," taeyong said to his friends. "i wanna tell her about the school."
the red haired boy's three friends nodded their head in acknowledgement, praising themselves and saying that sm high is a great school and they were glad their parents could afford the tuition. taeyong frowned upon hearing about the tuition and how his friends' parents were able to pay their tuition to attend sm high.
doyoung caught taeyong's facial expression and immediately realized what he and his two chinese friends had said. "sorry, taeyong... we kinda forgot..."
"it's okay, don't worry about it. it's kind of a good thing you guys forgot about me being here on a scholarship because then that means it doesn't bother you so much," taeyong was thankful for his friends accepting him into this school as a regular student and not just some poor boy who came to sm high school because of a scholarship.
"of course it doesn't bother us!" sicheng exclaimed, giving his friend a hug. the red haired boy hugged back and the other two also joined in on the hug.
after separating, the four boys continued talking as they usually were, talking about anything and everything without a care in the world. that was, until a couple more of their friends showed up at the picnic table they were at in the courtyard. one purple haired boy caught sicheng's attention, and the chinese boy quickly said goodbye to his friends, grabbed his things, and left. this time, however, yuta didn't follow after the light brown haired male and instead sat at the seat across from doyoung.
"you didn't buy me any drink?" yuta jokingly pouted, looking a doyoung. the black haired male just shook his head and pointed to guanheng.
"he bought it for us. and plus, you weren't here when we were choosing our flavors," doyoung stuck his tongue out at yuta playfully. the purple haired boy reached across the table and flicked doyoung's forehead, causing the korean boy to pretend that he was really hurt and fake crying while guanheng was laughing beside him.
"what brings you guys here?" taeyong said to jaehyun as the boy sat in front of the red haired male.
"just saw you guys hanging out and decided to join. plus, yuta wanted to thank you again for what you did for him yesterday, but i guess i'm doing it for him," jaehyun said to the red haired boy across from him. the two turned to look at their three friends who are now running all around the courtyard, chasing each other. both the red and the brown haired boys chuckled at their friends acting like little kids and watched them playfully chase each other, acting like they were going to kill each other.
"oh, that's right," taeyong remembered something. "thank you for the sandwich yesterday. it was really good. i didn't see you yesterday or earlier today to say it, so i'll say it now."
"no problem. i'm glad we have early dismissal today," the brown haired boy said as taeyong chuckled.
"and i wanted to ask you what you're doing over semester break," taeyong asked. the brown haired boy thought for a minute on if he had any plans during break, and shook his head to reply to the other boy's question.
"why?"
"well, i'm going to visit my mom in incheon for break, and i was wondering if you'd like to come along," the red haired boy explained, hopeful that the boy across from him will say yes.
"why not ask doyoung or guanheng to go along? you're closer to them than you are to me," jaehyun said. needless to say, jaehyun was confused as to why taeyong would choose to tke him, his past bully, instead of one of his best friends.
"exactly. i'm too close to them, and i pray to the lord above that i don't have to see them during the entirety of the semester break. plus, we can use this time to get closer as well," taeyong suggested to the brown haired boy across form him.
after watching three of their friends continue to chase each other around the courtyard and a few minutes of thinking at the same time, jaehyun finally agreed to go with taeyong to his hometown, to which taeyong was so excited that he jumped out of his seat.
"we're staying for nine days, and leaving on tuesday. get your bags packed by then, and we are also spending the holidays there," taeyong told jaehyun, and the brown haired boy nodded, showing he understood everything taeyong had just said.
