"blue, the color of the sky and sea. it is often associated with depth and stability, representing trust, truth, loyalty, confidence, and faith," jaehyun said, looking at both taeyong and his mom. the two nodded their heads in understanding.
taeyong looked at his other gift, the one from his mom. it was in a medium sized box, wrapped in red wrapping paper. he recognized the color and knew the meaning, but doubted that his mom chose red because of its meaning. nevertheless, taeyong opened the gift given to him by his mom and looked at it in awe after opening the box.
inside we're two keychains, both with a half heart charm attached to it. one was a rose quartz color with the word 'love' on it and the other had a serenity color with the word 'forever' on it. the red haired boy could tell that the charms made a full heart when put together.
he thanked his mom for the gift, not showing jaehyun what he had gotten, but the brown haired boy was fine with it since he thought it was a family matter and didn't want to invade. after taeyong closed the box, he turned to jaehyun and gestured at his gift in his hand.
"jaehyun! open your gift now!" taeyong exclaimed to his friend as jaehyun was caught off guard at the sudden noise.
"okay, calm down," jaehyun picked up taeyong's gift with red wrapping paper and carefully opened the well wrapped gift.
"does the red color have any meaning to it?" taeyong's mother asked as she saw that both her and her son had used red wrapping paper, but didn't know about any meaning.
"it does, but i'll let jaehyun find out on his own," taeyong said with a smile. jaehyun just shook his head as he took the box out of the wrapping paper and opened it.
the only thing inside was a single 18k gold
ring with foam insulator. picking up the ring, jaehyun examined the ring and saw that on the inner part of the ring was 'jung jaehyun' engraved inside."taeyong... i really can't take this..." the brown haired boy said to the gift giver while closing the box and sticking out his arm to return it. taeyong shook his head and pushed jaehyun's arm back to him, telling him to keep it.
"i worked hard for that. if your don't take it, then you didn't appreciate my efforts," taeyong jokes to his friend, who took it seriously and said 'thank you' while clutching the gift like it was his life.
"heh... i was joking but at least you decided to keep it," taeyong chuckled, making jaehyun somewhat flustered from embarrassment, realizing that his friend had joked around with him, but it soon passed as the brown haired boy decided to clean up.
"the keychains i gave you..." taeyong's mom whispered to him as the red haired boy was getting up to help jaehyun clean, but paused as his mom whispered in his ear.
"the pink one is yours and the other one... is for the person you love," taeyong's mom said. the red haired boy immediately opened the box to take it out and gave it to his mom, but the woman shook her head as she refused.
"not me," she said, followed by a finger pointing to jaehyun and said, "for him."
"mom!" taeyong whisper-yelled to his mother, causing the older woman to chuckle after looking at her son's face becoming red.
"but really... you're old enough to make your own decisions, as well as choose someone to love and stay with for the rest of your life. the other charm is for that person that you want to spend the rest of your life with."
"thank you, mom," the high school boy hugged his mom tightly, the woman hugging back with a smile on her face.
