We looked around at eachother. No. It couldn't be someone in this room. There's no way.

"Who?" Liam asked. After a moment of silence.

Paul sighed. "It was Resa."

"What?!" We all screamed.

"No. No!" I yelled. "It can't be! You're wrong! She would never. Would you?" I asked turning to Resa.

"I-uh-no!" She stuttered out. She was in shock.

"Resa management saw pictures of you talking to reporters the day of the carnival." Paul said.

"No way." Harry said. "Resa would never do that to Scarlette. I mean yes she's annoying, obnoxious, rude, insane, absolutely horrid-"

"Um, do you have a point here, Harry?" Louis asked.

"Oh right. Yes, she's all those things, but she's loyal. She would never ever do that to Scarlette." He finished. Harry defending Resa? Officially the weirdest day of my life.

"I don't think it was Resa either." I said firmly. "She's my best friend. I trust her with my life."

"Well then who else could it have been?" Paul asked.

We all shrugged and looked around at eachother again. Suddenly Paul received a call. A few moment later, he got off the phone.

"You guys are right. It wasn't Resa." He said.

"Who was it?" Zayn asked.

"Some girl named Valerie." He answered. "She told the reporters everything."

"Who is Valerie?" Niall asked.

"She's my coworker." I said through gritted teeth. I shook my head. "Why didn't I think of her? She hates me. I saw the looks she would give me when Niall would come during my lunch break and when Zayn would pick me up from work. And she's heard me and Resa talk about the situation tons of times."

I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair, which only made them get tangled in my curls.

"Well then, Resa, what were you doing talking to those reporters?" Paul asked.

"They were asking me how I was enjoying the carnival. They didn't even know I who I came with. They randomly picked me to talk to." She answered.

I smiled at her. I didn't doubt her for a second.

"So what are we going to do about Valerie?" Niall asked.

"Kill her?" Resa suggested. We all looked at her.

"It would make my story really interesting." She shrugged. We all laughed slightly.

"I'll talk to her tomorrow." I said.

--

I walked up to Valerie. "We need to talk." I said.

"Oh God, you're breaking up with me." She said in a sarcastic tone.

"I don't have time for this." I snapped. Usually I remained very calm in the face of Valerie's meaness. But I was in no mood today.

"What is it?" She asked impatiently.

"Why the hell are you telling people about my personal life?!" I asked. "My house was mobbed yesterday because of you."

"Because you deserve that Scarlette." She said simply.

"Oh yeah? What did I do to deserve that?"

"You're pinning best friends against eachother and you don't even care." She answered.

"That's not true!" I exclaimed.

"Then why are you doing the competition? Why can't you choose who you want?"

"It's not that easy. Do you know what it's like to have to guys being in love with you?" I asked.

"Oh it must be SO horrible." She said sarcastically. "You're ruining their lives Scarlette. Those two were best friends before you started being a slut and dating them both. Do you actually think you're worth all of that?"

I just stared at her. As mean and hurtful as her words were, they were kinda true. I was ruining their lives and their friendship. I wasn't worth all of that.

"You could have just told me that instead of exposing me to the whole freakin world." I said.

"I had to make sure my point got across." Valerie shrugged.

"But you're wrong." I said. "I do care about them. I didn't make them do this competition. I tried to call it off more than once, but they wanted to do this. This isn't my fault."

"You should have never even suggested the stupid competition." She said.

"You know what, that's none of your business, okay?" I said, getting angry. "Just stay out of my life and my decisions, it has nothing to do with you." She glared at me.

"Try not to mess those boys up too much." She said before walking away.

I sighed. What if she was right? Was I really ruining everything? What if Zayn and Niall didn't go back to being friends? I would be to blame. I just couldn't let myself be responsible for something like that...
