Maya writes yet another word in the book when she hears a knock on her door.
She goes answering it shocked to find out who is standing there
"What on earth are you doing here?" Maya asked.
"Nice seeing you too," Josh said as he entered the apartment and Maya closed the door.
"How did you even know where I stay?" Maya asked.
"Sandy," Josh said and Maya exhaled.
"Of course. What can I do for you then? I gather you're not here about a birthday party," Maya said as she went to sit back down.
Josh looked at the eighteen year old wondering how things got so wrong.
Without even knowing he ruined the poor girl's life.
"No. How did you get to my place so fast? You live 150 miles away," Josh said.
"I was in a part of Philadelphia. Josh, what are you doing here? Why drive 150 miles?" Maya asked.
"I'm sorry. I know about your parents and everything," Josh said causing Maya to immediately look up at him.
"Fantastic. Another person to pity me. I'm really fine in my own," Maya said.
"No, you're not. I know you're not. Maya you were never fine. Why not just..."
"Just what?" Maya asked as she stood up from her desk.
"Say I miss you and I want to be with you every second of the day? Cause I do and you knew that. You knew that way before you left. You knew all of that and still you and your family just disappeared. Not a phone call, not a text nothing. Do you know how it feels to know that the first person you have ever loved suddenly just leaves? Look at me Josh. I'm eighteen and basically the biggest mess I have ever been. And no. It is not okay. I am not okay," Maya said with shallow tears upon her eyes.
"Maya..."
"Just leave, Josh. Just... Leave," Maya said trying to pull herself together.
"No. No, I'm not just going to leave. You need help," Josh said and Maya looked duo at him from where she was standing at the couch.
"You think I don't know that? Because I do. But I can't get help. Because I have to work to just afford a place to stay and to keep the lights on. How on earth can I afford medical help?" Maya asked and Josh lightly sighed as he walked towards her.
"You don't have to. Because the help you need is not medical help. It's the help you get from your friends. Maya, I want to help you. If you'll just allow me," Josh said.
"I think it's best if you go," Maya said.
Josh shook his head as he left the apartment immediately causing Maya to break down.
Tears were streaming down her face and as everything just got more and more clear she never did realize that it was nothing like she imagined.
She wanted everything to be perfect but it isn't and no matter how hard she does try she'll never feel like that again.
