"Life, nothing more than an endless cycle of demeaning and blackness that swallows a person whole, why should I care how I present myself; care if people like who I am or what I am.  Everyone goes down the same road in their lives whether your someone who is popular and have so many people like you or be like me, alone not needing anyone or caring what they think." Darkness slowly closing in on her as the cold embraces her, fading from view as her cold and empty eyes look into the empty void; shimmer from her eyes a small faint light glooms with a warm flare that chases the darkness away. A hand followed by a smile are held out to her, the warm light covers the face of the mysterious person but somehow a feeling goes through the girl of comfort and a strange other feeling.

"It's alright, I'm here for you; always here no matter the struggle." The stranger says, his voice a calming and elegant sound. She reaches for his hand finger tips away, only to get sucked back into the darkness that was once their; fighting back to reach for the hand the girl reaches for only to be pulled further and further away. Dropping from the sight of the stranger and falling in the darkness that is surrounding her. Waking up to her face first on her bed-room floor wrapped in her blankets. "Yeah . . . ow that was a little painful . . . " she says while using her morning strength to roll over, looking up at her ceiling; pulling her arm out and reaching out looking at her hand remembering her dream. "

"That's the fifth time this month . . ." she groans out as she throws her hand over her face, she slowly gets up from her spot rubbing her head; taking deep breathes while trying to wake up - a knock at the door startles her only to reveal her father. He slowly opens the door peeking his head in a smile forms on his face seeing her. "Hey I heard you banging on the floor and wanted to come see if you were alive?" she rubs her eyes waking whatever mood she's in and forgetting her dream in the process, "Yeah dad . . . just a dream you know. . . ?" He walks in pass her to her window opening her curtains abruptly letting the morning sun-light in.

Her eyes are strained from the light suddenly brought in by her father causing her to retreat back into her bed, "come on Sarah, summer-break is over and its time for you too go back to school; your not excited I understand but its a new year who knows what gonna happen." He tries to explain to her but only to see that she is still in bed, "Okay okay so you still have one school year left, I'm sorry okay I'm just gonna miss my baby girl when she goes off to college!" He cries out as he pulls her into a deep emotional hug. Groaning she uncovers her blankets to hug back her dad,  " alright dad I know your sad but I need to get ready for school." She tells him from a tight embrace by him. He lets go of her flashing that smile he had when he first came in, "Oh you know me being sentimental." "Yeah and you know me being the opposite " She responds back in a cold tone sending a chill down her father's spine, "well anyway breakfast is down and you're brothers are already ready so I'm gonna take them, don't forget the bus love!" He tells her while blowing her a kiss leaving the room.

Sarah throws her body on the bed taking in what her father just told her, "College . . .and he didn't even say happy birth-day . . ." she calmly says while getting up from her bed and walks to her mirror in her room. "Happy Birth-day Sarah . . ." she says to her reflection as she touches the cold surface of her mirror, remembering life is just as it's always been; cold and colorless.
