Remember the girl in the back of the classroom, the one that's never there anymore?

“Yes, I remember her.

No one will know what I say, right? Okay, good.

Anyways, yes I remember Iris. She came to the town in the sixth grade, she moved into the house behind mine. I was playing football with my brother and he kicked it over the fence. I jumped over the paling and came face to face with a brunette girl. She picked up the ball and handed it to me. I then heard screaming from inside her house and I’m guessing she did to, she ran inside so quickly.

I continued to jump over the fence occasionally into their overgrown garden. I didn’t speak to her though.

Iris didn’t come to school for another year but on her first day she recognised me. She tried to come up to me. I don’t know why but I ignored her. My friends and I began to make fun of her.

She ran back down the hall.

Do I still regret it? Yes.

Will I ever forgive myself? Probably not.”
